goofball | 10-19-2012 12:37 PM | As with most 1099's the deadline that a company is supposed to send them by is January 31st following the tax year that they are for. (a simple google search brought me to this, as well...remember if it has to do with taxes, everything you want/need to know is also readily available on the IRS website. )
This said, over the years with all types of 1099's that I have recieved, sometimes companies are on time, sometimes not. The IRS can penelize a company for being late, but in my experience they rarely if ever do. Ultimately the IRS really wants to make sure you file appropriately by tax time. Jan 31'st is the presumed date that still gives people time to get tax stuff in order come april 15th. |
