Safe to use Bill Me Later, now that they are Paypal owned?
 

So here's the background. I run a long-term stealth eBay and PP account. I moved in 2011 to a new address, and since eBay/PP had no idea who lives where, I registered my eBay and PP to that new address, so I could add my Capital One credit card (add a friend) feature to the PP account and have a real credit card on file. This makes life a little easier, not having to rent a UPS store box.

Anyway, I used to use Bill Me Later at my old address, and wonder if I use it now (under my real name of course, ie the one suspended from PP), do you guys think PP will say....wait a moment, these two are at the same address, include a previously suspended PP user. Thoughts?

PS, I could technically use my old address I suppose, since it's my folks' place and they still live there.

Bill me later has a whole bunch of info needed. Its basically the same as a credit card. So dont see it being stealth with any success

Credit checks and SSN, etc.....

That said, this info would most certainly be shared with PayPal and vise versa. To protect both sides of the companies. Even as different companies they would still pass info back and forth.

If anything you plan to use is no good for PayPal then stay away

However, I do not see the harm in using it at my parent's address (my old address) with a different card number. Thoughts? I really do like Bill Me Later, and no, there is no interest if you pay it off by the due date.

If you must use it, make sure nothing, at all, touches your paypal now.

I dont see how you can set it up stealth anyway. Just because PayPal owns it doesnt mean they are as easy to setup with bogus info. It is after all a line of credit. They will need real credit and ID info to be certain

No, it wouldn't be stealth or connected to my current stealth eBay/PP. I used it at my parent's house in my real name/info before, which was, last time around, after PP bought them, I believe. I never had my stealth accounts registered at my parent's address, it was at a local UPS store.

If you used them already with that info then you already have a bill me account, no? Not sure what is missing here

Why not just use current bill me account?

Yes, I already have an account, but I was just wondering if I could cheat a little and use it at my current address instead, since my parents live 200 miles away (and the item would be delivered there, after all).

ah, I see. Wouldn't use any PP address for sure. Just adding a name wont help. Roomates wont matter a hill of beans when PP limits. And I assume that was your thought

Try a buddies address. Anything that hasn't touched your PP. Or the safest is to leave well enough alone and have folks forward to you. Pain in the ass, sure. But safe

You're right. When in doubt, play it safe. I would assume that Bill Me Later is run separately from PP and eBay, being headquartered in SLC, but a link will probably happen somewhere down the line and a suspension will be rudely dropped on my head. Oh well.

Update: just ordered what I wanted with Bill Me Later as payment plan, used previous address details and everything, logging on from a different PC and IP address than what I use for eBay/PP. Looks like it worked, yippee!
