Potential loophole for forced PayPal payments

Potential loophole for forced PayPal payments

PayPal prohibits adult items, right, and eBay still lets them be sold. So, you can sign up for an after November 2007 account, or one on UK or Australia, and then sell adult items. Then you don't accept PayPal at all and you don't have to offer it. You can offer a merchant account or heck maybe you can even just accept some random payment system or even no mailed payment at all.

Is it true, does this work? Someone here said they sold adult items.

I googled this and found a forum post elsewhere dated April 10th (before I posted this) that said ebay australia renamed "everything else" to "lots more" and it appears eBay is already trying to do away with the adult category and that people can't post adult items anymore.

OMG. Jonas,:) I can see a heap of posts on the Buy Sell Trade forum now. Wanted X-rated goods. Must be ....... {fill in whatever word} ROFLMAO;)

This will be quite difficult for Australia because of restricting legislation regarding
dvds etc. Have to be careful of the Rating classification.:p

But Jonas, in UK and AUZ you have to accept paypal.

LongMan 04-26-2008 11:45 AM

Well I tired selling adult stuff recently in the UK and they took them down... so looks like it wouldn't work for UK.

Jonas 04-28-2008 01:29 AM

Took them down how? Generic abusing? Or was it not in the right category? More details please.

I'm kinda wondering whether if adult items might be the exception or else if eBay is getting rid of adult items.

Hmm, okay it appears that some categories accept listings WITHOUT paypal. I just tried to sell something, in a fairly small category, and was not forced to accept PP.

Maybe this is just a temp thing?

LongMan 04-28-2008 02:28 PM

It was a MC036 takedown and it said I wasn't allowed to list these items. Many people were listing the same type of item in the same category so I really don't have a clue why mine was taken down...

What category was it Mantisinc, I've noticed a few not requiring as well.
