Paypal holds questions
 

I just sold an item for about $1,100 and I received the 21 day hold e-mail from paypal. It was sold on ebay, but this paypal account was not linked to it so it's basically an outside of ebay transaction? The paypal account is quasi stealth.

Are these outside of ebay holds more based on a dollar amount or verification of user info?

I assume paypal's system is data mining ebay's database for sales using the paypal account info and sharing IP data? It's probably best to use different info for each account and connect from a different IP?

If I close this paypal account and open another one with different info, but the same bank account will it get the 21 day hold placed on it again right away or as soon as I receive a payment?

Does not really matter - since payment was made via eb checkout (seems to be the simplest scenario), the hold is in place.

You cannot avoid the hold by your plan of action. All the best.

Oh, damn... a seller can still use eb checkout if I send a paypal money request directly to their e-mail address? That's what I did.

Paypal says they will start placing holds on my funds starting yesterday. Is that for ebay transaction or all transactions?

I sell off my own website, not one sale on ebay.

First 1200 they let come through and to bank just fine.

Then they started the 21 day hold.

No complaints or chargebacks.

I dont mind, just gotta make it the 90 days, and the hold will be removed.

I would assume they are holding it to the dollar amount, reguardless of eBay checkout or not.

And no, they cannot use ebay checkout to pay for a sent invoice, unless you specified an ebay auction # on the invoice.

Ive had holds come off after 90 days and added back on on day 91... Not a guarantee.

Yep, I just spoke to several supervisors at paypal... they will hold all (ebay and non-ebay) payments for 21 days on all new paypal accounts from now on regardless of dollar amount and it doesnt matter if the payment is for goods or a service purchase they said. Everything will be held. The only way to not get your payment held for 21 days is to have the buyer send a friend/family payment and I seriously doubt any buyers will do that.
