Paypal just released 'Paypal here' system, permitting clients to use their credit cards, checks, or paypal accounts to pay for services even at establishments without credit card readers. 'Paypal here' mobile payment platform transforms smartphones into payment swipe-readers. The system requires only the insertion of a small card-reader, designed by yves behar of fuseproject, into the audio jack of any iPhone or android smartphone. the system is encrypted and protected by the same risk management that paypal offers for its online services. Specially designed for small businesses, including food carts and market vendors, 'paypal here' extends a 2.7% charge for transactions, while the card reader device and app themselves are free.

If it's owned and run by p/p I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

Probably I GPS in it that tells them when your taking a dump.

Going to look this up and see if any point for Canadian customer. It should be decent to swipe physical cards - the physical card presence + signature is big time security relatively speaking.

On a sidenote, you are prob going to need to provide ID or business reg. info for this.

It's going to sink hard once someone figures out how to attached a CC skimmer to it and steal everyone's info.

Wonder if this is going to be available in the UK - its a bloody ace idea for small businesses and particularly those who go to car-boots, craft fairs and flea market type events.... its gonna push impulse buying through the roof... shame its from paypal though .... haha most of us are probably on the ban list already.0
