This has become random.

Over the last week I have worked on several new accounts.

A couple came back with the withdraws and a couple did not.

I think they are trying to see if a bank will make a mistake and send the name on the account back to them.

I see them going after the money as well, those deposits can add up over time.

But in the end I still believe they are just being sneaky.

"Was this a brand new paypal account that you verified or was it an older account?"

It was a new account. About a week old.

I notice that on the paypal page after entering the bank info it tells you that they will deposit $1.00 or less and randomly it will say (We'll Retrieve them later) under it sometimes it will say it and they do it and when it doesn't say it they dont do it. I don't know what it means because it's so random sometime they do it right away and sometimes hours later.

Some have reported account being limited after confirming deposits some get the generic suspicious activities linked to the bank account might be from confirming it too quick or from the deposits being withdrawn it all seems random.

I just noticed this too with a new account I made last week.

Just opened new account today, and the same thing happened to me. I am not going to do anything but let pp sit and keep checking emails and once in a while log into pp to see where it stands. For at least 3-4 weeks. Crazy!

-They do that to old accounts as well?

-Why not putting just the credit card, without the bank account? There's an option to withdrawal money to the CC (The visa gift card without name) instead the Bank account... it seems much easier

Trying to get a scope of where this thread is going now.

I believe these small deposits are just to check if direct debit works, (to make sure they can withdraw money out of the bank account in the case of a dispute) I doubt it has anything to do with trying to get the name on the account. All of my new accounts have done the same thing, and none are limited. If you are being limited it is because of another reason.

I wrote the post about PPL withdrawing the deposits back in March. Its now almost December and that account is still working fine. There were no ramifications after the PPL withdrawals.

Google does this as well..

All of them are now doing it..

Maybe they don't want to part with those 5 or 10 cents.
