Phone number needed to add credit/debit card (VCC) to PP?
 

I recently tried to list an item on my ebay account and was asked first to setup automatic payments, which I did, and used paypal, I then setup my auction listing and when I got to the end I was told that I needed to setup a reimbursement method before I would be allowed to complete my listing and make listing active. I had two options (or so I thought), Paypal, and credit/debit card, so I selected "Paypal", I was then redirected to paypal where it proceeded to ask me for a credit/debit card, it was very strange but apparently I was told by someone on here that I could get a VCC with AVS and all would be good.

So, I found someone to purchase an AVS VCC from and they said I would need a working phone number to go along with the VCC as well because they will ask for a phone number. He offered to sell me that to but could not make any gurantees that the phone number would work, only the VCC. My question is, is this true, am I going to need a working phone number? and does the area code have to be correct? If I do need a phone number that they can call, can I purchase a local DID # online and use that (and re-route to my cell)? Thanks in advance for any guidance.

You should always have a working phone number on pp in the event that they call. Call forwarding number can work well - i have done this =)

ok, but what sort of phone numbers can be used for PP? you mentioned call forwarding, but what kind of # do you have forwarded?

I asked someone about purchasing a local DID # (local to the address on my account) and they just said it wouldn't work, but if not then which numbers would work? Where could I purchase online? PM if necessary please.

Do area codes of phone # have to match address?
