- - Ally Hold
( https://www.aspkin.com/forums/paypal-talk/44773-ally-hold.html)
JohnPublic | 04-04-2012 05:19 AM | Ally Hold Ally says they may hold deposits for up to nine days. Has anyone had a paypal deposit or any deposit(s) held for nine days?
This will be my first transfer. It's just a few thousand, but from a new stealth paypal account to an ally account that has been open for about two months and has a $1 balance. Think I'll be ok? It seems that paypal doesn't seem to care about much once the 21 day hold has passed, but this is my first time dealing with ally. |
Sure the bank may hold the initial deposit to make sure that the money is not reclaimed or anything so I would not worry too much. |
JohnPublic | 04-04-2012 04:27 PM | I am a little worried because what if paypal tries to take some of the money back for whatever reason? Also, waiting another nine days after the 21 days would really suck. |
jeffweico | 04-04-2012 04:35 PM | Most banks have this policy on newer accounts. So the holds are not permanent.
More troubling is the fact that MANY USERS have reported problems with Ally. They really do not like deposits coming into your account under different names. They don't ALWAYS catch it (50/50) but if they do, they will most likely close your account. |
JohnPublic | 04-04-2012 05:11 PM | Yeah, I was reading about these issues. I'm thinking that I shouldn't use Ally. What happens to the money when the account is closed? Do they send a check? Of course this check would be in the name of the account holder and not in the stealth name? |
bansheezone | 04-04-2012 05:45 PM | No issues with Ally yet for me, 2 months going strong with over 5 checking accounts with them. Never had a deposit held ever with any bank but then again my deposits with them would not be in the thousands since I build trust with them just like with Paypal and only do a couple of hundred at a time spread out over a number of accounts. Jeff, I only know of one user who had Ally bank issues.
I hope that account is in your name. |
JohnPublic | 04-04-2012 06:53 PM | Yeah, the account is in my name, but I have a gut feeling that something is going to go wrong with this transfer. I think I should steer clear of them and netspend also. I think I will stick with BOA. |

UnderBites08 | 04-04-2012 10:52 PM | Banshee I have 5 ally accounts but haven't done deposits yet. I am scared the different names will mess this up. Your take? |

I build trust with them. | Thats very key
Banks are no strangers to scamming as well. They dont like "pass through" funds. Meaning in and right out.
Anything that deals with money will have some delays, security and hoop jumping. Its natural
I suspect Ally is become an issue because it was an ideal system. You setup an account and can then make sub accounts. Any setup that's ideal for stealth sadly is also ideal for scammers. So after some abuse, and there always will be abuse, they tighten up the system |

newjerseymax | 04-05-2012 05:47 PM | Do not open too many checking with Ally... Makes no sense really when you can transfer between accounts....
Much better off 1 checking (linked to real bank) and 4 savings...
My girl works fraud department for bank. |
UnderBites08 | 04-05-2012 07:48 PM | Yeah I like to let a account get a lot of feedbacks before I attach a bank account. |
JohnPublic | 04-06-2012 08:04 PM | Damn, ally is the paypal of banks. I am not even putting 1 cent in my account. |

bansheezone | 04-10-2012 10:20 PM | some have no issues, so do. So steer clear if you do not like taking chances. I for one feel that with risk/chances can provide so good rewards so Ally has my business still for now. | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 09:44 PM. | |
