Default Paypal requirement for out-of-US EBAY Accounts?

I hear that ebay will force you to sign up for paypal so as to link accounts if you want to sell. Can anyone confirm or deny this? TIA

Yes, unless you get a merchant account.

Default not really

In my experience - having the merchant account did not help..

i signed on from Israel for an american account (w/ my american billing/shipping/bank etc details) and couldn't post without confirming a paypal - kept ketting an "international trade" notice when trying to post - even though i have a merchant account. no one via live chat could help me or explain why it is heppening - and i was SUSPENDED about two hours later (before bidding or posting any sale) for 'abusing ebay'.

i don't know if they tied me to my previous account which was previously suspended a month ago for 'connection to a suspended account' after i had %100 pos. feedback 164... sigh.

Or they don't like Americans signing up for US ebay accounts from other countries.

If they said you were tried to a suspended account, they usually say what account. Did they say the account it was? I'm not asking what account it was, just if ebay listed an account.

What areas are we talking about? Specific countries or "any" countries other than the U.S.? Does Canada count? But seriously. Does it?

yea I tried to sell a pair of shoes from one of my accounts with 20 feedback 100% and they will NOT let me list them without a Paypal even though I had the "merchant account" thing checked. So, basically for certain items you have to have paypal. Sucks!

usually if you sell name brand highly counterfeited shoes after a while you will have to link a paypal account . But if you just listed for the first time you shouldn't have any trouble.
Also if you try to sell internationaly you HAVE to link a paypal account

Wouldn't there be a workaround for this? The virtual cards allow you to put whatever address you want. If you list the address as another country, would the same restrictions apply? Is this where the IP would come in, matching each IP to the seller account when it's created to check what geographical area you're in when you list? Does anyone know of a way you can "fool" the system to think you're in that area? Besides, if you listed the item's location being where you actually ARE--just that you're registered elsewhere--wouldn't that be enough to let it pass the system checks?

Do you have to have to link any paypal account, or does the paypal have to be verified?

Not necessarily. As long as you ship from a confirmed address (wherever that may be) and get a tracking number, you should be ok. Unless I'm missing something here?

Are you sure?? I'm selling internationally right now (though it's my first item on this new account) and they haven't made me LINK my Paypal account. I just put that I accept Paypal and they don't seem to care beyond that.

Define "seasoned" - are you basing this more on feedback or length of time the account has been active? And are you talking about internationally as in "worldwide" or on other sites. There is a difference. Ebay will let you ship worldwide without having this requirement.
