any problems with TD Bank???

Opened a savings account and checking account online at TD Bank om Monday and linked to accounts to 2 different Paypal accounts. The initial deposits showed up in the checking yesterday and I was able to confirm my bank account. Today when I get on tdbank.com, the initial deposits still are not in the savings and the 2 initial deposits for the checking have completely disappeared. Nothing even shows up in the history, pending transactions or pending balance. I have read on here that there's been no problems using TD Bank. Help???

Just called bank and they said that sometime the place that made the verification deposits will take and I the money back once your account has been verified. I had them check my savings account history and they said Paypal made 2 small deposits on Tuesday and they took the money back on Wednesday and I never even confirmed my Paypal account. I was still able to go back into Paypal and confirm the deposits. Why would Paypal be taking the money back. I could see them taking the money back after I confirmed the account but why before I even confirmed it???

I have had no problems with TD bank...savings might be an issue if direct deposit is not enabled though.

BigCJ 07-19-2012 10:37 AM

new tactic by paypal with certain banks as of late. They take the deposits back. Some speculate its to see the account holder name. others say its because the deposits are costing them money.

I have had the deposits taken back on around 3 accounts and one was limited right after they took the deposits back.

You can search the forum for paypal taking them back.

I confirmed the deposits on the one Paypal account yesterday evening around 5pm and everythings still OK with that Paypal account. The thing is with the other Paypal account is that I never even confirmed the deposits and they took the money out. So basically they made the 2 small deposits and took them out a couple hours later with no action from me... I will still able to go into Paypal and confirm the deposits even after they got the money back...

Yeah, as long as you can see the deposits on the account, you should be able to confirm it. keep us posted.

I have not had any problems as of yet. I did have a deposit taken back by paypal from RBC once but nothing happened.

I used TD bank with paypal. I didn't have any problems WITH PAYPAL. I did ask them ahead of time if it was OK that the deposits were under a different name and they said yes.

I had another non paypal issue with them however... I opened an account with then in New Jersey while I was living there for 6 months. I specifically gave them my different primary address which was in a different state.

I used my savings account for paypal of course. It was the free savings that was recommended to me as being the easiest option.

So, I get 400$ in it and don't use it much again (limited). 6 months later, I am leaving Jersey extremely late for my flight. I don't withdraw the money, shouldn't be a problem, right?

Get back home, find out that even though I electronically deposited 400$, the type of account they gave me pretty much does NOT work with online banking!
And... my closest TD bank was now 3 states away!

On the phone with customer support I discovered that:
- I could NOT withdraw or transfer the money to my checking in my state.
- If I overdrew on my checking account or debit card, they would NOT withdraw from the savings account.
- Basically there was NO way to get the money in my state.

I thought I was screwed!
Then they mailed me a check when the account closed eventually... which they did NOT tell me they were going to do. And they mailed it to New Jersey! >:(

Luckily I was able to get the check after a while.

So, a little off the subject but thats my TD bank story.

You don't use savings accounts for PP. You use checking...

MM78 07-22-2012 11:20 PM

People need to stop using Savings for Paypal.

Gman91189 07-23-2012 01:03 AM

I've always used savings and td bank, that is/was actually my Very first bank i used with stealth.. still going strong

sergfro 07-24-2012 05:24 PM

Savings is fine..just dont withdrawl too many times with the bank. I think the limit is 6 transactions per month on savings

bsg1979 07-25-2012 12:40 AM

When you all make a withdraw to checking from Paypal, how long does it take to show up? I made a transfer at 2PM on Monday and it's currently Wednesday early morning 2AM and nothing yet...

unkown5454 07-25-2012 01:23 AM

Can easily take longer than that...be patient.

Majority of my accounts have Savings. Some up to 3 yrs. Why not use savings?

I got more savings accounts than Checking as well. I just try to transfer money from my savings account to my Checking once maybe twice a month max. It is less of a Paypal problem than it is a personal banking problem with doing too many withdrawals.

Can i make a recommendation? first off, when you sign up for a prepaid debit card, put two first names on you account. For instance, if you name is jon smith, put as you first name when you sign up for a prepaid debit card jon david.Put this all in in the frist name slot. then in the last name slot you can put your real last name. Now when you sign up for ebay of paypal use your second name you put and your real last name. Ive opened several bank account like this with different first name. So your name would be david smith. Also I put my real SSN when i signed up so everythings legit. Tell me what you think.

Wait...Did I just read that PayPal can see your name attached to the bank account now? :|

balzac 09-01-2012 02:07 PM

Hm, it shouldn't be the truth. If it is then this business is going to die.

Yeah I think the guy who said that (quoted him below) should clarify..or mention any sources. Otherwise, that would be a pretty huge deal if it was true

Taking back the deposits to see account information has been unconfirmed, otherwise a lot of us would be toast by now.

The reason for this is likely financial. They were losing millions not taking back the deposits.
