Good info!

For those who dont know what a hard pull is, it is an actual inquiry that will show up on your credit file and stay for 2 years.

And it does slightly effect your FICO score a small amount unless you start getting a bunch of them and it will drive your score downward.

I use a real time (read paid) credit monitoring service and have not had a hard pull from State Farm for a bank account.

I would expect there were some reasons in the application that this happened.

Possible age factor or other issues.

All banks have the right to do a hard credit report.

Usually they base this on risk factors.

Did they discuss anything with you on the matter?

No US bank has the right to pull a hard on you without your consent. They can pull a soft, which doesn't affect your report. Many banks pull your chex report which is different.

State farm is known to pull a hard on checking account applications. One of the few banks that do that. They also pull from all 3 bureaus if you apply for a Visa. Screw them.

also, I would say, HSBC is not a good choice either, I must be on their blacklist, on 2011 I opened an online account on their website and try to withdraw some 180 fund, then they called me to close my account, and of course the fund was returned to paypal.

I don't have problem with this bank.
However, they allow you just several ACH transactions on saving account a month.

There may have been other issues.

HSBC used correctly is a great bank.

Hope they dont get abused again...always a tip to keep the fees minimum if possible with minimum balance ...

If your account goes 0 or negative for more than 90 days, the account will be autoclosed.
