New Account with Old Name, but EIN?
 

Hey Again!

I have never faced this issue as of yet, but I was curious about something.

I'm a tad paranoid about using ⊗⊗⊗⊗ names (for reasons I don't wish to discuss) but I would like to know if you open an account in your real name, with a brand new address and phone number (all legit) but provide an EIN, would you ever be linked doing this? I've read on other forums that my EIN would expose my SSN somehow. It would be a business/merchant account.

Any advice would be great.

Before anyone asks, all other stealth would be used. (ip change, cookies, etc.)

No, I had my personal paypal taken down in like 2006. I came back in 2011 with an EIN. It has been a year plus and have not had any problems. However, I have also made sure I kept my accounts with ebay and paypal in the best possible standing I could.

new CC #
new EIN
new cookies
new IP
new user account

i'd say thats as safe as you can get.

I don't see how an EIN is going to expose your SSN? business accounts use EIN. post a link to this??

there is no way for anyone get your SSN # from your EIN #. that is ultimately the whole point of getting an EIN

Yes, that is exactly what I did. I also tried to change info as much as possible.

example:
Jon Doe
999 Broadway St.
Smithtown, XX 111XX

If you can change anything in your name or address as possible
Jonathan Doe
999 Broadway Street
Smithtown, xx 111xxx

As many little things you can change always makes a difference. Of course keep it legit but make the best variation you can as if you are getting a EIN you plan on selling over the IRS threshold so you will be on the hook for a 1099k under that info.

Could you use an EIN for a personal paypal account, using the same tactics?

So you changed your paypal account to business?

It seems you would apply for a sole proprietor, and do it that way.

no no no, when I created it I created a business account. NO upgrde or anything like that just straight business.

Oh I got it. So what if I changed to business, then added my EIN? I just want to know what type of business to choose- Individual or Sole Proprietor, and if I should use real info or stealth.

I currently have a ebay/paypal with name variation and my real address which is clean. I want to add an EIN to that, but need to know the next step.

If you had an EIN it would imply by nature that you had a business. EIN=Employer Identification Number. Regardless of if you have employees. You want to have a Business PayPal account before you enter and EIN. I believe you also need a Business name to get an EIN. I can't remember exactly.
