Do I have to provide my SS# if I only want to buy on Ebay?
 

I'm new here and need some help. I used to sell on Ebay a lot, but I'm sick and tired of their fees and B.S. so I have requested to close my account. So, I signed up for a new account and a new Paypal account. My questions are these:

Will I be required to give my social security number to Paypal if I just want to buy stuff on Ebay and not be a seller? My old Paypal account was linked to my checking account, but I'd prefer not to do this again. What is the best way to pay my fees? If I get one of those prepaid cards will I still be required to give out my SS #? Can I get verified without linking a checking/savings account?

I just need a strategy for all this.

Absolutely don't have to provide your SSN to have a buyer account on Ebay or for a seller account either.

If you are only buying you will not have any Ebay fees to worry about paying.
