How screwed am I?
 

I sold a friend who moved away my Jordan shoes collection. I shipped it to him and he sent me the money and all was good. I didn't bother keeping the tracking number because he's a friend and I thought I could trust him. A little over a month goes by and I go on my account and I see a -$4000 balance. I had sent the money into my bank account prior to that. So now I have no proof to show that I sent him $. It was a bank return that happened. Now he has my shoes, and the money. I owe Paypal $4000. What do I do?

This was an off ebay transaction

What will they do to me?

I live in Canada and he lives in France now.



Please help.

Welcome to the forums - first of all, is the account in your real info? If so, pp can take you to collections.

Why did your pp go negative - did he chargeback? Explain a bit more please. You withdrew your money though

It was a bank return. Yes it was all real information.

You need to find that tracking # and pray you sent it with sig confirmation. Otherwise, sorry you're sol. That's a pretty big credit hit i think 4k....

$4000 would be worth it to me to fly to France, & get my pound of flesh!

A bank return sounds weird - I mean a cc chargeback is doable but a bank return...after you got your money out? Hmm.

Anyhow if it`s your real info, pp can take you to collections. Or you may get off - only time will tell.

For 4k, you dont cover your bases? Very odd choice. Sorry that there is not much else out there positive for you - just letting you know the reality of it.

One of the reasons I try not to sell anything I own to family or "friends".

If you know his/her family, try to talk to his/her family about it, maybe they can do something. Other than that, your out of luck (you're screwed). It's your fault for going against the rules of paypal, they require anything over $250 to be ship with signature confirmation.

They might take you to collection, they might not. Who knows....

So there's a chance they'll let me off?

i don't really believe that this was a friend, this story doesn't sound right but where did you pay for the postage? i am sure the post office can look into this information for you since fraud is involved

YOU must prove to paypal your supposed friend did the wrong thing.

You claim this is an off ebay transaction of MANY dollars and want paypal to walk away? Not going to happen.

Nor is this forum going to advise you to do anything other than RESOLVE the matter.

Take legal advice.

Speak to your parents, his family. This is FRAUD

ACT correctly.
