EIN on NON-US account
 

I have received the email regarding US IRS, I am a non US citizen living in Thailand.
The first email gave me an option to opt out as I am a non us citizen but nor I have received a second email asking for the information.

Is a non US citizen liable for IRS tax?

Is it a PayPal glitch? I will write to PayPal today and ask for an explanation but woud like to know where I stand first.

If Paypal is asking you to opt out then do it. IRS only has jurisdiction in the United States

Didn't think the IRS could do anything with non US citizens, but thought maybe as paypal is a us company?

I did opt out as anon us in the first email and got confirmation of this.
Then 5 days later I receive another email asking for the information.

are you doing business in the US?

Items are sold on eb.com, shipped from thailand

are you using paypal.com or paypal thailand? if you are using .com i would guess maybe this is why. definitely no expert on the matter, i would also talk to paypal, you can even call anonymously and ask about the issue

Thanks, I'll first send them an email, if I get automated garbage I'll phone them.
When i loG into to paypal I am directed to pp.co/th/en. My extracting balance is thai currency. I'm presuming they don't know I'm on a UK passport as its stealth and the account was opened under a non US driving licence.

I'll let you know how I go on anyway.
