Paypal new 21 day hold for non ebay sales??
 

I opened up a new canadian stealth paypal account about a week ago for my ebid account and on my first sale which was $450 I got an email from paypal saying they are holding the funds for 21 days until i complete a checklist of things..

I need to make 5 successful sales over a certain amount of money and wait 60 days then they will lower or get rid of the 21 day holds????????

Anyone else get this?

Yes its a common security, the amount of money is total, so sell small things as filler and sell one medium/big thing to cover the leftover of that amount, then wait. Nothing around it

The only time that happened to me on USA side was when I had first sold something on ebay and THEN sold something direct outside of ebay.

On the accounts I start that I never sell on ebay, I have not experienced that yet.

But, I often wait past 100 days before I start taking direct payments, so not so sure..

Will maybe know soon here, as I am making a new paypal right now.

I have done this and been informed I'm still on 21 day hold. Verified bank account. Verified VCC. >60 days since my first sale. >$150 in sales. 11 different transactions, all received. It appears as though now they want my SSN.

To top it all off, sent a services invoice to someone, and got paid, and I'm still suffering through the 21-day old. Explain that. I had to go to transaction details and mark it as "service" and now it's "In Process." Still no funds. If I get no clearance by tomorrow, refund is issued and no PP until the hold is removed.

i doubt they are gona release it without the ssn.

Becoming a trend for pp to do 21 day holds on anything in general so you can only expect that to increase for initial sales until your account is more trustworthy

Hmmm.. Could be they are changing their practices..

Back in 2009 through 2011 basically they would just do the 21 day hold for a few to several transactions.. It would start out as every one was on the 21 day hold.. Then every other order.. Then finally no orders on 21 day..

I had an account that was dorment about a year.. I started to use it a few months ago.. No SSN on file.. No 21 day holds..

I had done like a few transactions to get past the 21 day thing like back in 2011 or maybe late 2010..

Then it was just sitting dorment forever.. And I started selling like gangbusters and no holds..

I think it's a new wrinkle. I sold two items over two days, both sent invoices for "Services" and both were put on hold. Had to mark as "service rendered" in details. Both had pending release dates on funds of exactly 7 days. As little as a month ago any service invoices had funds available to me immediately.

It's the holiday season, PP needs to rack up some more bucks. In addition, their reputation is so awful and rules so draconian, I think now EVERYONE doesn't leave any money in their PP account, they send to the bank ASAP.

I'll live with it, I have to, I guess. Can't give them an SSN, it's stealth. Try to verify with the phone and get the "we can't verify your phone." Oh, well.
