Theoretical Selling Limits?

What amount of $ is it safe to receive in selling transactions on aged stealth
without risking the possibility of limitation

IF I receive $5K in 72 hours is that likely to flag something in the system
are there any quantifiable numbers as to what kind amounts in transactions are safe?

If you were receiving 5k every 72 hours PayPal wouldn't even look twice at it.

Its all about slowly increasing the ammount your receive over a period of time

How ols is your account? I have received and withdrawn about 10k in one day and was fine. If you had like 50k come at a time then youre in trouble. 5k is fine.

- best question is to know the activity range PREVIOUS to receiving this amount of money - what was it?

warriorbydesign 02-15-2013 06:05 PM

Account seldom used for small objects...., I am just beginning to use for selling.

I normally donīt receive high volume payments, I am just needing to understand theoretical limitations in case I receive a large amount of orders, as I occasionally sell high valued items.... I heard people say receiving over $20K can get you limited because of an IRS requirement...., or something like this. I am just trying to keep on the safe side, wanted to know if there were any defined mechanical triggers that will automatically flag the account so I can avoid them.

Like someone said before, eBay is only half the issue - the other half is dealing with PayPal. Just because you have certain selling limits on eBay doesn't mean that you can max them out. You also need to worry about your PayPal staying healthy.

@warriorbydesign, is the account stealth or in your real name? Is the transaction risky (what was sold?)?

You may get limited but ID should clear it. You do need to post up more info for analysis.

Dead on correct. Ebay is easy compared to pp and there mystery machine.

Selling limits dont stop the majority of us, we find ways around them and still do very well.

I second this. I have now sold 150% my "selling limit" for the month even after my increase - you just have to know what to do. It all comes with practice

If the account doesn't have a very solid history then $5K in 72 hours WILL get it shut down. On an aged account with a few selling feedback I would not risk going over $300 in 72 hours (and then I would let it cool down for at least a week)

I dont know why everyone thinks of it that way because before my account was even 30 days old I ran 10k in sales through it and didnt have an issue. I think it just depends on the way you sell for sure. Because I had the 21 day hold...buyers got their items and I received the money 3 days after delivery.

From my own experience and what I've read on here, that seems like a giant fluke. Personally I'd rather play it safe and take it slow. A long account life is what we all strive for...
