Unauthorized charge back with Paypal..

I have gotten 1 or two of these before from paypal, I've always supplied tracking number and shipped to confirm paypal address and paypal would always issue me the funds.

For this charge back, paypal has removed the funds from my account, charged me the credit card fees, and said they will contact the credit card company with the info I provided blah blah blah.

Is this something new? Ive never experienced this, whats the point of seller protection and confirmed addresses then?

Its not the points of seller protection with paypal or ebay, its just that with credit cards is totally different. Credit cards companies operate with their own money until it is repayed by the credit card holder some time later. And plus, credit card companies have nothing to do with Paypal. Neither owns one other.

The seller protection for you was that, paypal sent the info you gave them to the credit card companies. It is up to them to decided on what course of action to do next, not paypals.

But since you shipped according to the rules of paypal, confirmed address, didn't change the address, you will most likely win this charge back. If the tracking info says, "delivered", and you shipped with sign confirmations on orders over $250, you should be good.

Sadly there is not much protection against a charge back. I have had this happen before and paypal LOVES to just shaft the seller (90+ %) of the time and say sorry, cant protect from charge back and then they slap a $10 fee on the seller !! It sucks - you can keep pushing back.

Some people have reported some success but honestly speaking from experience, waste of time unless huge amount involved and you are ready to keep pressing hard.

this is sad to read, unauthorized transactions can really make you look bad, that's why I make sure I wait two days before shipping the order.

I hate scammers.

If the chargeback was filed through the buyers credit card in most cases you will lose the money and the item.

The cc company will force the issue for the buyer and pp in many cases has no choice but to remove the money to protect themselves from the cc company taking the money anyway.

Low percentage of people win chargeback because the scammer buyer will then say the item was not what was originally sold to them.

I coined the phrase here "professional buyer" and we all have to deal with these scammers.

professional buyers are scum, but you do have to take them into account, but i think the icing on the cake is charging sellers another fee on top of losing their money

Yes such a crappy policy of paypal - and then they recently added the FEE for returning buyer's payments...only scum try to profit off of EVERY transaction - idiocy.

Depending on the history of the PayPal account, and the item showing as delivered, I have had PayPal pay me back what I lost with a message saying they covered the transaction since I followed all the rules

Its apart of business and should be taken into account.. same as the post office losing your uninsured packages...
