Asked for info from paypal
 

what if you receive a message from paypal asking for your SS or Tax ID for IRS purposes. Can you change the paypal account on Ebay? The new paypal account will have a different name and address and will not match the info on the Ebay account. Will this work?

You can change but it will NOT work for the long term. Sooner or later, the link between your OLD pp and eB surfaces to affect the NEW PP since all get linked. That being said - you could experiment but I have done this to try it out...it`s NOT a good longterm solution.

That is the risk of using a paypal in the USA if you are from another country.

Is that what you are doing or thinking of doing?

I have a US Ebay and Paypal account (both stealth) but I don't live in the US. All was working fine until last week when Paypal sent me a message asking for a SS or Tax ID.

So now I am planning on getting a new non-US Paypal account (to avoid the SS issue) and link it to my US Ebay account. What I don't know is if I must make the new PP account with the same name as the old one, so it matches the info on the Ebay account? Or would it be better to get it with a different name (in this case, the Ebay and PP info would not match)

Linking a non US PP to a US EB will not work long term, as the info will not match (addresses, IP's, ect ect)

simple solution to this, open more accounts and spread sales, too many sales on 1 account this early in the year will trigger ssn request

A good point. Also - for people new to PP - PP will also limit if PROJECTED sale amount based on month history is expected to be over 20k or 200 transaction...they do look at velocity curves it would seem

This will fail so fast you will be making new paypals.

This is not the correct method.
