Paypal Business account can PP see business owner
 

I have a very good ebay account. No issues and just made power seller and will make top rated seller next month.
Today of course like allot of people it seems i got the stupid paypal rules about tax id.
I have a business a corporation but my partner and co-owner has been suspended from paypal. Does anyone know if paypal can see the owner of the corporation.

I think there are some states where u can form your corporation and its totally legal to do and I'm not exact sure I think Delaware is one but legally they are not allowed to reveal the owners, I think it is in play with 3 or 4 states, but I think in other states if they wanted they could

If I just go to the govt site and open an EIN then it's totally visible right?

From what I gather, they just verify that SS#'s and EIN's are real(currently issued to somebody). From my understanding, they can't actually see who it belongs to. Of course they could if they were motivated enough.

When eBay/Amazon/PayPal verifies an SSN or EIN for tax purposes, they ARE run against IRS records. However, NO information is provided by the IRS - only a MATCH or NO MATCH response.

For the SSN, they are verifying your name. It needs to match exactly what the IRS has on file, which is usually what is on your Social Security card. Keep in mind that John Smith is NOT the same as Johnny Smith or Jonathan Smith.

In the case of an EIN, they are verifying that it matches the business name. Again, that will be whatever is on file with the IRS, which would be the exact name you supplied when applying for the EIN.

If PayPal/Amazon REALLY WANTED TO, the could check the corporate records in most states and find out who the officers of the corporation are, or who the member managers of an LLC are. There are a few states where this information is not available, but most will supply that information.

To check what can be seen in YOUR state, go to the website for the Secretary of State or the Department of Business Services. Look for the name search function. Type in a the name of a corporation or LLC and it should give you some options. If you can see who the officers or managers are, so can anyone else.

I could just open a paypal account that matches the name on the ebay and give that info. However i just wanted to keep the paypal i have and just upgrade to business account. However again if just add our company name my partner has been baned from paypal. And when i look at the records his name does pop up.
