Do I really need to give PayPal additional information?

Maybe there was a thread already covering this. If so, I couldn't find it.

I got a message from paypal on my account overview page:

We had trouble confirming the information on your PayPal Debit MasterCard application. The Resolution center has some additional information we need before we can move forward.

It's asking for a photo ID with address, utility bill, and a document with my SS#.

This happened a few weeks ago, and the only "limitation" it shows on my account is that the account can't be closed.

After checking my address, it looks like i didn't update it and have moved twice since then. Would making all my information current be enough? Who are they to ask for all this stuff, anyway?

This is real paypal account with my real info btw...not a stealth.

Thanks for any input.

If you want to keep the account, then yes, you have to provide them with all the info and you would probably have to call them to tell them your side anyway "That you moved 2 times"

Under their T&S they gave themselves the right to ask for this.

When you signed up and joined, that implied you accepted their terms.

And if the PP account is llinked to a banned ebay account, would it be better not to hand out that kind of info considering that PP account won't be of much use anymore?

Let me put it another way: What do i have to lose if i give them the information they request?

I would just let it go then.
If you will have virtually no use for the account, dont waste your info.

Well the problem is that my "indefinitely suspended" hasn't actually been suspended yet. I am still abke to sell, for some reason. I'd like to keep on selling with it as long as iI can, but won't they catch on eventually? I'm wondering if submitting their requested info will bring more attention to my eBay account that is supposed to be blocked from selling. Then on the other hand, what if I do NOT give them this information and they end up killing my PP account? Would my "suspended" eBay account be useless then or could I get another PP to use on it?

All of this cloak and dagger BS is really irritating and has me constantly second guessing myself. Unsure how to proceed, and I very much appreciate the advice of everyone on here.

True, but to me it feels like they think they have the authority of the government or a finincial institution... with zero accountability.

Only if you want to use the PP account for other things...if just for eB, since that eB is suspended...no use to you shadows for eB sales.

You agreed to their terms to use their website so they make the rules.

I dislike paypal but survive by following their rules and knowing how they operate.

They are not a financial institution they are consider a money processor/handler so they do not have to abide by banking regulations in most cases.

Provide them with what they want.
