V.me to compete with paypal and allow you send money
 

I asked visa about paypal and sending money like paypal using v.me service:

I dont get what they mean by mid term though. What do you think are their intentions and when will they allow feature?

mid term means that they don't want to commit to a time frame but they don't want to say no

They plan to offer soon ("mid term") but they don't have a finite date for launch - basically, they're just telling you some time in the future...

unfortunately if i do that text will be too small. my monitor is quite large thats why email took up that much of screen ;(

They can compete 2 ways:

1) compete for merchants- visa owns authorize.net (worlds biggest payment gateway, bigger than paypal), its a a payment gateway like paypal . so they can offer payment gateway to merchants and compete for merchants with paypal.

2) compete for buyers-visa says they will allow you to send money to other people, like how paypal lets you send gift payment.

paypal charges to send gift payment when payment method is a card. visa will not charge as they own the visa card. advantage for them

I wrote a similar thread on this topic however cant find it anymore. Wasn't V.me by Visa meant to be launched this summer in the UK?
