can i get banned for requesting g1ft payment?
 

to cut a long story short I sold an item in good faith for nearly £500.

the guy got a bargain. he was making me a lot of silly offers to start with. I stated my bottom price if payment was sent via 'g1ft'. he paid normally plus some for for pp protection.

the guy now says the item has arrived but its marked. he is demanding a 100 pound refund.

I have told him to either return the item for a full refund, or keep them, I will not be part refunding him anything. he is now threatening to report me to pp for asking for 'g1ft' payment, stating he will send email copies etc.

I will not be part refunding him, what I have offered is fair, the bloke is an idiot.

its a legit pp, been in use for 10+ years plus, without issues, should it be ok if he does chose to attempt to blackmail me in this style?

It was a bad move to ask for the payment as a gift, best advised not to do that again because it can easily lead to these situations.

Was the item posted via a tracked delivery service?

yes. he has it. I just wondered if he could report me based upon a screenshot of an email?

and what is the likely outcome?

Requesting a payment be sent as a gift is not a wise move.

100 pound problem vs. keeping your "solid" pp that is running at 10+ years? Sadly, I would just refund and let this sh*t go...you have a problem buyer...no real resolution that will help you.

Sad story to hear but it's quite common.

He would not be bright to report you either - this kind of "gift-giving" could affect his account too

the payment was actually send the normal way. he will report me either way I feel, as the guy is a total w~~nker.

if he reports me I contact paypal to state that he has edited past email history. and then submit the 'real' request by him :)

if my account sadly goes down, I will make sure his does too.
