Paypal exchange rates?

Does anyone know if Paypal's exchange rates are more or less favourable than a banks? I somewhat guess the latter.

I have two Paypal accounts, one in the UK and one abroad - I sometimes use them to remit small amounts of money to my bank account abroad, but I'm wondering if it'd work out cheaper to just withdraw on my bank card from a cash machine.

My bank charges (£1.50+2.75%) on non-GBP transactions, using whatever exchange rate the ATM uses. Paypal conversely, doesn't have a transparent fee per say but the exchange rates are so bad that there's one built in somewhere.

Any idea what would be more financially sound, or know any details of how Paypal's currency transfer fees work?

Re: Paypal exchange rates?

Less favourable generally, but depends on the bank.

Best way to find out is to Google 'paypal exchange rates' and then compare them to the rates offered by your bank .
