no, he is saying that without a SSN on file with PayPal the entire account will be limited to 200 transactions or $20,000 per year, otherwise the account may be flagged and SSN be required, by law.

that is correct, when you are about to hit the limit , you will be asked for it.

Multiple accounts is the answer. Hit the search button and get all needed info to have your plan in place & best of luck

In terms of an llc!!!

I mean, before i proceed with over 20k in sales, can i attempt to have account verified with having to provide a ssn??

at this point, bank account and debit card are OK!!
only thing missing is a photo id!!

I would be curious to know how this worked out for you. I am new here and am wanting to do the same thing. I have been selling for someone else averaging 15,000 a month, and want to do it for myself again. Suspended back in 2005.

Also was wondering the same thing. It seems most people's advice is to just say open multiple accounts. I am looking for my stealth account to be my main and only one.

So would opening up a paypal via a business account first be the right answer to bypass the SSN requirement. The guide is vague on this but hints at way that depends on how the paypal account is opened.

I usually open a personal then upgrade to a business, however, lately if I make a business account straight out of the gate, I get the weird soft limitation. I am allowed to only withdraw the first $100 a receive until my account information is verified.

If you wait until paypal asks for the tax info, they do not ask for the 'users' SS just the EIN.

I dump the accounts. If you do a personal a first, then upgrade to a business, they don't seem to be asking for this yet.

Thanks but the guide implies that you should open the account with your new LLC that sounds like a persons name hence the only to do that would be to open a business account unless I am misunderstanding. Since a personal account would require a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name.

No, you open a personal account and then you upgrade that account to a business account.

Open up a personal account. Sell on that account until paypal asks for tax info, then and ONLY THEN upgrade to business, change all details to your LLC and add the EIN.

What happens when ebay makes you call in and you get suspended for not being able to pass data base questions? Your EIN paypal is now wasted forever.

ONLY add the EIN when absolutely needed and you have complete confidence the account will last.

I opened an LLC and provided the EIN and all the information. As soon as I tried to log in they asked for last 4 digits SSN and date of birth and it said that IRS required it to avoid money laundering.To make things worse ebay canceled my just opened account and this paypal is lost. I need to open another LLC but I don't know what to do the next time they ask for this in the next paypal account. This just happened on 12/10/14

That's why never provide tax info until the account is going well and after 90 days when the paypal holds are lifted and limits raised with eBay and your making money than when asked for tax ID make the decision and if you want to provide this info just upgrade from personal paypal to Business PayPal

It's good to have that information ready but never add it from the start always wait until you see the account is going well like at least 4-6 months

When I open a personal account then what name should I use if not the LLC that sounds like a real persons name? To me the guide made it seem the LLC name plays a part in how you open up a new paypal account but I might be wrong. Sorry but I can't find enough info on the proper method to open a paypal account without an SSN being asked of me which is why all the question.

You do not need to give any tax info until you approach 200 transactions OR 20K in sales. Don't put anything in that section until they demand it.

Forget LLC and business account, open a standard PayPal stealth account with stealth info, all new info. Stealth name/address etc

How would this help me when I reach the 20,00 limit? I'm trying to run a new long term business.

No one bypasses the SSN requirement? Not sure if you were reading what other memebers were saying but they already told you what to do.

Once you upgrade to business and add the ein there USUALLY is no reason for paypal to ask for SSN. They can ask for SSN at any time on ANY account if they feel they have a reason to. Just because a EIN is attached doesn't put you off limits to suspicion/limits with further information needed.

No one can bypass a SSN request. Unless your using YOUR social, anything thing else is identity theft.

We have answer your question many times. Please reread what we are saying. It is not complicated. You are having analysis paralysis.

It goes like this.
Open ebay and paypal account with fictitious info. Sell items. If your account lasts and you approach 200 items OR 20k in sales, paypal will ask for tax into. At this point you can determine if the account is worth adding your EIN. If it is, upgrade then and add your EIN. No SS needed.

I will not reply to this thread any more. All the info has been posted several times in this thread.
