Buyer bought an item this morning, now PP case opened.
 

I received a payment for an item on sale on a fairly new stealth account and within 15 minutes a case was opened whereby the email states Paypal is currently investigating the transaction with reason giving that the transaction may not have been authorised by the Paypal account holder.

I logged into the resolution centre to find some options:

How would you like to resolve the issue?

- I have not posted the item and i would like to refund the payment.
-I can provide proof that the item was posted through an approved postal service to the address on the Transaction Details page.
- I have refunded the payment for this transaction.
-None of these apply to me.


Well i want to send the item provided the transaction is sound. So i clicked none of these apply.

On this screen it goes where did the buyer ask you to send the item, as if i had already sent it. and provide a contact number etc. Please let me know what the best course of action would be?

This is a disaster in the making, and PP has taken steps to WARN you about this, and you want to go ahead with it anyway?

Stop playing games and refund the payment before you ship it.

Well i would like to ship the item provided that the transaction was SOUND ( as in a false positive and the original account holder did make the transaction), from the email i received it sounded as if Paypal are still investigating if this was the case.

I have received this email a few times in the past.

100% certain do not ship.

The buyer is a possible fraud.

Only Paypal will know why.

Had the same situation yesterday morning. It looks like mine was a buyer from the UK that was visiting relatives in the US and purchased my item. Just wait until PayPal gives you thumbs up to ship.

PayPal pulls this crap all the time, even when the buyer is all legit. I can say with 100% certainty that this transaction will be reversed eventually, regardless of if you send the item out or not. Don't do it.

Common sense would tell you not to ship the item. There's no guarantee that Paypal will actually clear the funds to your accounts afterwards.

If you want to wait, go ahead. But sending this, even if initially OK'd is risky. If it turns out to be fraud, PayPal will put your account under a microscope. They could request all sorts of verification, including a driver's license, passport, bank statements, etc.

I wouldn't touch the order with a 10 foot pole. I would simply choose the first option - I have not yet shipped the item and am refunding the money. Stealth accounts cannot afford to be involved in things like this - the risk to the account is too great.

I understand that the OP wants to make the sale, but is it worth losing the account over?

The worst part about all this is that PayPal remove the ability to refund a payment that they believe was unauthorized, so you either need to wait the 2 weeks that it takes them to close and reverse it automatically (even though they say 7 days it's really double that) or call them and ask them to reverse it if you don't want to keep the buyer waiting.

Personally I'd just wait it out (not call) and not send anything out... because there is literally no chance of such a case being decided in your favour. It just doesn't happen.

Do you like putting your account under unnecessary review by paypal?

Paypal gives you notice of an issue and you want to play good seller?

In this case, you play good paypal user & let them control the case.

I know you worry about FVFs. But an active paypal far outweighs this.

transaction would get reversed at some point, and that's even if you send it or not... would not be a good idea to continue with that transaction.
