EIN before LLC Formation Is Complete

I just have a quick question about EIN numbers.

I have already applied for the formation of an LLC but it is not processed through the state yet. Do I need to wait for this to finish to obtain an EIN or can I apply for one online before the state filling is complete?

You can apply for one before its finish. I have done it several times.
