Adding a SS # to paypal

I got the notice that paypal wants me to add a SS# for the IRS. My wife will let me use her SS#. This stealth account was created with a name very similar to my wife's name. Any reason why this wouldn't work? The address we live at is linked to a banned account. Thanks for the help!

Re: Adding a SS # to paypal

Because no sensible person would 'burn' an SSN.

The name must match the numbers.

Your plan will fail.

What exactly happened?

There may be a better workaround.

Let us know before you submit a single thing to paypal.

Are you not listening?

I asked what happened? Is it a straight out request for SSN or other info might be OK?

Did they give another option besides a SS#? Was there an option that asked you for an EIN?

Normally if you are just coming on pace with the 200/20k they will give the option, but if you tripped up a security measure than a SS# is a must.

The name needs to match exact no,variation, the way they check is yes or no on a match, and it's most likely all computerized so there is no human to determine the name is off by a letter or two it just comes back as no match

OP says address is shared with another banned account.

I missed that, I guess that is the reason they are asking for a SS#

I asked in my first reply for more info. You asked too.

Of course a banned address is a worry. But if the request is more generic, there might be a solution.

if the OP missed our requests, we have a battle to give advise.

Re: Adding a SS # to paypal

I know there are many threads about this issue. The message I got from Paypal is below. I'm still able put it off for now when logging into paypal.

Why would my plan fail if I add my wife's ss# ?

I've done some reading on EIN. I do have a sole proprietorship. Just concerned about the whole public record thing.

Dear XXX

To comply with the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) rules, we ask that you
submit your Tax ID number to us as soon as possible. Your Tax ID number is
one of these:

- Your Social Security Number (SSN)
- Your Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN)
- Your Employer Identification Number (EIN)

We are required to obtain tax ID numbers from all online sellers who
receive payments for goods or services through PayPal. If you do not
provide us with your Tax ID number, your account access will be limited,
and you will be unable to request or receive money. After you provide us
your Tax ID number, your account will be fully functional.

Re: Adding a SS # to paypal

create a tax id online with an llc and make the name close and wait for a couple weeks till the TIn shows in their database and you are all good and you dont need to burn someones SSN

Re: Adding a SS # to paypal

You just toasted your wife's SSN for no reason at all.

No need to use her SSN.

Too many options available not to.

You can lead 'em to stealth....but you can't make them do it correctly!

You say you are worried about the whole public record thing of the EIN yet you will use the SSN? Avoid touching something that personal & not even your own :boink:

Not a sensible idea.

Your main issue is going to be the name difference IRS only respond with YES/NO to the question does SSN number xxxx xxxx match? Since the names differ, it does not. paypal then turn around & ask more questions & the account is flagged.

An oops moment

:shhh:

Re: Adding a SS # to paypal

This is why im opening an LLC to avoid those issues. Ive lost 5 stealth PayPal's with over 4k in all of them together. Im done losing money (i know its not gone forever but for now it is). Once i get the LLC im opening a new stealth paypal. Im even going to use a private Sock5 just to have it on one IP address. Don't want to risk using a blacklisted VPN either. I normally use cyberghost for new IP's , I gotta make this right.

Thanks for the advice. I obtained an EIN for a soon to be LLC. Do I have to register the LLC first before giving the EIN to paypal? When I got my EIN, it had the following info. Will paypal be able to view the SOLE MBR info?

File for LLC in Nevada. They don't have physical address requirements and filing fees are only $75 =]

Re: Adding a SS # to paypal

Listen to me very carefully unless you already gave them your SSN or your EIN. What you need to do is either change you're sole proprietorship to an LLC. It would be better if you just open the new company, and if your wife is not banned, you could open the company in her name. Or you could think of any name for a company that isn't already being used. The best thing about an LLC. Is that the IRS doesn't want and individual SSN. They want the tax identification number, or federal tax ID. Because most LLC have more than one owner. Now remember, a long time ago the IRS or government or whoever decided that it would be easier for tax purposes to allow companies to use DBA names. DBA stands for doing business as. For example John Doe Incorporated. That would be the name of the company, you could also do with another DBA name under Jane Doe LLC. So PayPal will be looking for your tax identification number or your EIN. And when you sign up for a PayPal account you can sign up under John Doe. I recommend calling PayPal when signing up and explaining that you are a corporation and you're opening this PayPal account under the business's name. Technically the business can be used as an actual human being, to a point.

Ill never understand why people insist on doing things the hard way...
Just spread your business across several accounts to avoid ever having to deal with this situation.
And if you do have to deal with it do the EIN thing as it is easiest and safest. Plenty of threads on here on how to do it properly.

Because they are stubborn like mules! they don't care to listen to the advice, they want people to say "yes" to their plans...even though it might be the wrong one.
