bootleg_ | 06-27-2014 01:07 PM | Must Provide Tax ID Hey Everyone,
I purchase an Ebay and PayPal account on here and its been working flawlessly for I'd guess about a year. Good feedback, everything is smooth. But just now, I received a message that they want me to provide SSN EIN or Tax ID. I'd rather not. Is it something I did to prompt this? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. |
BigCJ | 06-27-2014 02:02 PM | Re: Must Provide Tax ID if you go near/over 200 sales and 20k within the year.
Though it can be applied at anytime. |
GoteBay | 06-27-2014 02:11 PM | Re: Must Provide Tax ID The only way around that is to stop selling. If that is your only bread and butter, there is no harm. |
SaiJin | 06-27-2014 07:58 PM | Re: Must Provide Tax ID Now that they are asking for those, you'll have to give it to them or you won't be able to use the account anymore.
Get the stealth guide, so that you have at least some back ups for emergencies |

It has been a requirement since 2010 that SSN/EIN will be needed.
Should have been selling with that in mind.

lolzcat | 06-27-2014 11:37 PM | Re: Must Provide Tax ID How come everyone makes such a large deal about this.
Just add an EIN and become a business if you're selling significant amounts. |
Re: Must Provide Tax ID I received this also, do i just make a new pp account or how do i provide a ein number that is not linked to me? Is legalzoom.com recommended? And would i actually get in trouble for this, though i don't know how they would find me as the only thing is real is my bank account number/routing. |

What's your suggestion to the users there?

:croc: | By rotating sales, it is possible to keep activity low enough to AVOID being ID flagged - that is the point. |
Re: Must Provide Tax ID When I do provide my EIN to PP, what is reported to IRS? If so should I file a tax return on behalf of myself with the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ stealth/pp account when tax season rolls around?
Seems like i will get a EIN number and keep track of what is made though the account and report a low net sales after expenses ? Or do the IRS knows how much was received through PP? |
Re: Must Provide Tax ID Seems PP needed my SS, EIN because i was moving cash at a fast rate. I will give them my EIN number and stay under the 200/20k limit so i do not have to report. |
legenddavae | 07-06-2014 12:55 PM | Re: Must Provide Tax ID Yes I have this same problem regarding adding a TAX ID. What are my options? Please share... |
aspkin | 07-07-2014 12:11 AM | Re: Must Provide Tax ID FFS You have two options.. provide a SSN or EIN or as Rsot has suggested quit using that account and go with another account. There is nothing wrong with doing that and it's not evading taxes, it's playing the game. |

legenddavae | 07-10-2014 06:28 PM | Re: Must Provide Tax ID I just applied for a LLC and got a EIN and applied it to my paypal account. Was this an ok step if I'm ok with paying the taxes if necessary? |

I would create a brand new eBay account with all that info and go through the process. The problem with using a stealth name on an account and adding the EIN. Is if you hit the threshold for the 1099k. When they mail it to you or you get it electronically it has the individuals name on the 1099k that is filed with the IRS. Not the business. At-least that is how it has been the past 3 years I got mine using the EIN on Paypal. I have yet seen anyone else who has created an EIN Paypal account on here answer any questions.
Maybe if you are registered with as a Corporation it is different. You might want to anonymously call Paypal and ask them. Tell them you are starting a business and have a few questions. See if they can give you an answer. Just my personal opinion. But for me I could have done what you are talking about with a Stealth account. But I did not want a Stealth Name being on a form filed with the IRS when I was the one who applied for the EIN and the person of record. Not to mention having my CPA ask me about it.
Your only potential option like ASPKIN alluded to earlier. Would be to run multiple stealth accounts and spread sales out on them according. | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 11:32 PM. | |
