Hi,
I haven't been on this forum for a while or used ebay for a while. I made a new ebay username and paypal, but when I went to try to buy something on the new ebay account, it asked me for my ssn on paypal.

Does paypal now require SSN to buy things/sell things, or do you still only need a bank account?

Your not providing enough info,
Did you use Same Name, Same Address, Phone, etc as a previously banned info?

Hi, everything I used was completely new. I still remember somewhat how to make the accounts.

In the past few weeks, other users have reported that paypal has sent this message at start up of a new account.

paypal is undergoing some security changes.

By chance, have you a screen shot,please?

To be clear, my other account is not under suspicion or anything, I just wanted to make another account, so I don't think linking would be an issue.

My main question is, do they require you to have ssn, as they requested when I went to buy something on my new account. I should note that I did not link a bank account to the paypal account.

Hi, sorry I did not get a screen shot, but I can describe exactly how it is.

1) I go to checkout on ebay.
2) It directs me to the paypal login page
3) I log in.
4) It asks me for my SSN to complete the process.


Now I remember before that as long as you had money in your paypal, you could purchase things, even without a bank account linked. You just couldn't sell things without a bank account.

are you sure its not offering you a pay-later program?
