So only way to send a partial refund is via the send money??
 
My buyer (teh Mad one) must of used a coupon when paying me and I cannot send him the 25% discount I promised. PP is only allowing me to send the full amount.

What do I do? Is the only way to use the 'send money' to do this? Isn't their a safer way?

You can send a partial refund via PayPal. PayPal does give you an option to enter the amount you want to refund before you finish.

If a buyer and uses some type of eB or pp coupon I don't think its possible - only the full amount can be refunded for that transaction.

I have a few instances where I could not issue a partial refund, but instead I had to send the whole thing or none at all. If you send it as a gift, they can still say you never refunded them, so be careful sending a refund as a gift.

Ended up sending the partial refund out as 'gift'. No fees involved. Also made sure to include the unique transaction number, item number to the original purchase.

Good to cover your bases - get a confirmation e-mail from the buyer or send out a polite communication thanking him/her for business

The OP was already in constant communication with the buyer.

He was taking affirmative action which worked in his favor.
