UPS Store Mailbox
 

Hi,

I opened a UPS store mailbox under my name. Can I receive mail for another person using the same mailbox with the same last name?

Please share your experience.

If you don't plan on receiving anything, you should be fine. If you plan on receiving stuff, send yourself a large envelope or small box (that won't fit into the mailbox) using your "stealth" name and see what they say when you go to pick it up. Give them an excuse that it's for your girlfriend/roommate. They may require other users of the box to provide ID.

be careful using UPS store mailboxes.

i work there and apparently you are not legally allowed to get one and list it as your HOME ADDRESS for say, ebay or paypal, or anything else. they are not supposed to be used for business purposes either.

im sure people do this anyways and get away with it just fine but i am just stating the facts here.

apparently some people have opened up the ups boxes for insurance fraud so you can no longer use a ups box as your "home address" so be careful!

If your not supposed to us eit for home adress(personal use) or buisness then what is the point of having one?

Wouldn't it make more sense to ask the UPS Store where you have the mailbox for the answer?

I tried to send something there using my "stealth" name.

They wouldn't let me pick it up. They said "name not in mailbox". Therefore, I'm not authorized to receive it, and they return to sender.

The UPS Store is very strict about their mailboxes. They want two form of ID's for all mail recipient name under the box.

myIonU open it in your real name. Sit and wait for all the junk mail and collection notices in other people's names to come.

As long as you don't have to sign it or go to a counter to pick it up, then nobody will do anything.

Since UPS Stores are independently owned and operated, what you get away with at one store might not apply to another.

I've been using UPS box for over a year now
i just used it as a apt address.

it works. i can receive packages from fedex, USPS packages, DHL, anybody. and even ship USPS packages.

about the names, i'm not sure but ive been there along time and all the CS knows me. they don't look at my names anymore. They have a big USPS container for my packages ;)

Thanks for the advice, but I do need to receive my mail.(returns and undeliverable packages).

According to the UPS Store website anybody else besides yourself you add to your box MUST provide 2 forms of I.D.

There are many alternative such as the mail drop locations..some even upload your letters online, with the option to shred it or foward it.

myIonU, so you get letters to other names fine, it's just package returns? If it's just package returns, why don't you just completely leave off the name entirely?

I have not tried letter yet. The package need to have name on it because it's something I buy from ebay or mail return by post office

While UPS Stores have their policy, you can butter up to individual owners and literally explain that post will come in other names.
