Visa payment not working: Shows as "refused"
 

Having a bit of stress here! I have an Entropay card which I used a month ago, no problem.

This morning I topped it up and went to pay for an eBay item via PayPal. I've been well and truly screwed with this one, because it kept saying the funding source couldn't be used and tricked me into using an eCheque instead, which will probably be the beginning of the end for that account.

Anyhow, it shows a status of Refused in PayPal, and reading the blurb it suggests that the receiving account is the one refusing this method of payment.

Just wondered if anyone could shed any light?

How much is the amount in question and is your paypal verified?

did you try use it straight after you topped the entropay card up??? maybe it takes a while to receive in entropay, not instant?

It is verified yeah. £104.95 in total. Tried around an hour after topping up. No rationale that I can see behind it....

While working this situation out - just fyi, one time eCheque might not necessarily end this account

There's no funds in the account it's trying to take the money from now lol. I have made a purchase previously with this card so it's odd. It does all seem to point to the receiving account.

Hmm echeque is safer for PP to default too - if seller account isnt verified, could be contributive

There are no funds in that account because I put them on my Entropay....

Do you have any funds to add for clearing the echeque?

Well I'm both skint and unable to add any. It's very complicated. I tried to use a savings account from Natwest. It turned out this account was actually an old ISA that just had nothing it it and funds can't be added or withdrawn.

I have opened a new savings account to use but didn't get chance to change it on PayPal before this happened.

Did your check that the card was selected when making a payment?
Do you have more than one entropay card on the account?

Test it on another cheap buy it now item and see what payment method appears?

Opening multiple current accounts is bad news.

I might have stumbled onto the issue though. I noticed that when I tried to pay, PayPal was trying to pay from the card in Euros. Perhaps the seller doesn't accept anything other than GBP?

No idea why they are trying to do it in Euros and cannot find a setting to alter it.

I did check the card was selected the first few times. I didn't on the one that resulted in an eCheque as I thought I'd already done that bit.
