When are you forced to provide tax info on PP?
 

About a week or two ago PP started to ask for tax reporting material such as SSN/EIN, etc.

I know they do not report until the 200 items / $20k mark. But I have probably already gone over 200 items on this account and but am only at $8k. I am sure I raised the flags at one point because for about 3 days I was selling 10-20 items at $20 each (making PP think I was going to hit the limit quick).

I am not limited or anything yet. But I would like to know, at what point will they limit me? Is it at that 200/20k mark or less if I start approaching it quickly.

I will probably start working on a few other accounts, but will this ever "go away" i.e, starting Jan 1st or will the notification always ask me?

Paypal uses "Forecasting" where they calculate how much you sold and predict how soon you will hit the $20,000 limit.

It's actually pretty random. I'd say that no matter the amount of money, if you consistently use the accounts, eventually you'll be asked for them.

So I'd say just start prepping ahead of time so "when" the time comes, you won't sweat and you'll be ready to give them what they want

I know it can be random, but mostly forecasted.

But does anyone know when they will enforce it, not just ask please for it? :ranger:
