Can a buyer file a dispute through Paypal right after they send payment?

The buyer purchased an item from me and paid directly through Paypal. He purchased it on Friday morning and I shipped the same day. This morning (Monday) he files a dispute!!! That is not nearly enough time for the item to arrive! I sent my husband to the post office to send the item and not to my surprise he forgot to get tracking so I guess the buyer got paranoid and filed a dispute. Without tracking he will be left with the item and the money!!!! I hadn't even withdrew any of the money from my PP account yet. Is there anything I can do?? Would it be wise to escalate the dispute so Paypal can decide the outcome?

I have had this happen. Most people have been honest - there were 1 or 2 who were not. I hope it was not an expensive item because if they are dishonest you will likely be out the item and the $$. :(

What is the value of the item in question?

Pull up your buyer's contact info from eBay and call them.

Tell them to drop the case right that moment.

About the tracking, USPS now always uses tracking regardless if it's the regular one or external one. So check the receipt from the post office on that.

It was USPS and there's no tracking! I think they use tracking but you still need to pay for the information.

Reach out to the buyer.

Use your charms to attempt to resolve this.

Check your shipping times on your listing as well.

Adjust as needed.

Sort the shipping procedures for next time if your husband is taking items for delivery. Tell him what you must have done. Pay for tracking too.

It's a class of postage in Canada.

USA have FIRST class.

Canada has Fir

If it was expensive, Id have your husband go to the post office and file the proper forms to have the item sent back to you.

If you kept the receipt, they can still track it via their internal system.

Again, depending on the price, pay the fee and once the form is filled out, they can stop it in its tracks.

If it was a cheap item, update the buyer that the post master in your area is watching the parcel move to 'aid us' in the paypal dispute and help against fraud. :ranger:

Make it worth the buyers while to cancel the dispute. Tell them it was your fault and you will take 10% off the original payment. You may take a slight loss but at least not a total loss.

They automatically give you a tracking number. It's on the receipt.

Check your receipt, they provide tracking even though they don't tell you. The PID# on the receipt is your tracking.
