80% vs. 100% Paypal Account
 

I would like to have a 100% Paypal account. I have it at 80% because I have not confirmed cell. Is 100% required/more important? I bought a tracfone and the text doesn't come in to verify my cell phone with Paypal. The area code of my tracfone matches my paypal zipcode. Please help again.

If 100% was required I'm sure Paypal would have already said something to the extent of requiring it. I wouldn't bother trying to get to 100% unless you are hell bent on getting your Paypal to 100%.

tracfone won't work from my experience, even if zip matches. Also from my experience, and reading the experiences of others, 100% does not make any notable difference vs 80%. I wouldn't bother yourself with this.

You can get a Paypal account fully verified with all limits lifted and still have a 40% complete profile.

Profile completeness has nothing to do with verification status or the functionality of your Paypal account.

In regards to not reviving verification texts from Paypal, I think it depends on the particular model of the Tracfone (or to be more specific, the carrier Tracfone uses - it's different for each market and phone model). For the longest time, I used one particular old school slider model but decided to change it up when I saw a sale on a newer blackberry-eque model. Needless to say I've never had an issue receiving texts from Paypal/eBay on the slider model, but was 0/2 with the other one.

So.. if you're having problems getting texts from Paypal on Tracfones, the solution may be as simple as using a different model.

Mine is at 80% and I see no difference between my old account and stealth , oh yea except for those darn limits.

Silly all you have to do is add a google voice to your tracfone. You will be able to view the verification number on the gmail account associated with the google voice account. Just log on to gmail account and ask for text verification and read it on gmail account inbox, problem solved.

I have friends who strive to reach 100% and get that badge of completion (not PayPal but for other things - xBox) and it's ridiculous to watch.

Personally I have not see an issue with 80% completion in regards to PayPal.

As for the Tracfone issue, I have been using them for years for mobile/SMS Paypal verification. Here is the things: there are two types of SIM cards that come with a Tracfone. One has all black writing and one has blue and black writing. Now I'm not sure exactly which model comes with which SIM card, but I can tell you that the SIM cards that are ALL BLACK WRITING WILL WORK. THE ONES THAT HAVE BLUE WRITING WILL NOT. For some reason, the SIM cards will all black receive the internet-based SMS message for verification while the other ones do not. One particular Tracfone model that I've had 100% success with is the T301G and you can usually find them in the $5-$10 range on eBay or Amazon. Hope this helps a bit!!

It's a psychological thing and they can get n00bs to submit every piece of personal information they want to siphon from you.

They are smart for doing this.

Yeah it is a psychological thing. People with OCD would probably fall victim to it. But guess what? With moronpal, I mean paypal, you can be fully verified with 100% profile completion and they could still permanently ban you over something trivial. Don't sweat the profile thing.
