Chances Law Enforcement Will Investigate a Scam?

Long story short I got jipped $1300 and the seller ran off. He probably used stealth account with made up info. He deleted his email and paypal.

My last hope is to get police involvement. What are the chances that the police will investigate? What can they realistically do for me?
