Paypal Demanding My Tax Info...Limited Now
 

I tried to list something on Ebay just now and when I submitted the listing it said " Email address cannot be used for PayPal payments at this time"

So I go to paypal and they are demanding my tax information. Because of reasons I cannot even remember (years ago) my name that I use for Paypal is not my real name...I used my middle name and my wife's maiden last name. My tax id, ss #, etc will not match. Am I screwed? What can I do?

How will the Ebay/Paypal split figure into this? Will this issue be a moot point when they split?

Need advice.

Research about getting an EIN from the IRS. It's similar to a SSN, but for businesses. You could upgrade your Paypal account to a business account, come up with a business name, and input that on your Paypal account and your EIN application to create a match.

I wouldn't expect anything to change after they split. The tax requirements isn't a Paypal policy, it's something required by the IRS.

Will not be a moot point even after the split - can expect same issues given past track history of eB / pp alliance-allegiance
