Yep, I've had it happen too, a few years back.

You crossed the 20K and 200 sales limit and they issued a 1099K and it didn't match the IRS records.

They'll be suspending your account soon unless you provide the proper info.

This particular problem won't go away until you provide info that matches.

BTW, jeffweico is absolutely the best, I haven't seen him post for a while, but his info is the best you can get. Go with whatever he says.

Hi, I received this notice as well. Just wondering if any of you have just ignored it...Did paypal report to IRS or just block you out of the account? Does anyone know if they are required to report if you fail to respond? Thank You

They'll limit the PP and without it you won't be able to run the EB. That's what I mean by done.

I received the same email today? Any solution? Will updating to LLC fix the problem?

Same email I got today about mismatching EIN, but I've had the same info in years past and didn't have any issues.

Do the IRS looks into the company to see if it's still active in the state and if it isn't deactivate EIN or report it as a mismatch to PayPal? That's the only thing I can think of as the LLC went inactive last year as I disnt renew it

It looks like they are checking matching info this year. I have accounts 7+ Years with same EIN info and just this year I am getting messages about not matching.

I updated all of them with IRS and asked for a mailed copy of new EIN. I uploaded the new EIN with matching info and pp released the soft limitation.

What document did you upload the one from the IRS? Don't that have your real name on it? I'm getting asked by PayPal to upload completed W9 form and in the form they want you to use member name and SS for single member LLC not use the EIN number for the entity. Any idea how to get past this?

I did not upload anything. Today I saw that red flag in my paypal disappear.
I am a little worried about this since my ebay account could list $130,000 per month...

The same thing has just happened to me, says it doesn't match. I have an LLC with an EIN. What should I do now?

I talked to an anti-gov type tax attorney and he advised me to give them my ein. He said paypal will send the irs a schedule b and start backup withholding on my account. My situation is different though bc Paypal has my real name and address and I brought in 85,000. This is the first year they have asked me and I've been over 20k since 2013. Hope this helps.

I ended up uploading the form they ask for to update EIN, even though they say they want the SS instead for single member LLC. I had to put my LLC name on the first/last name fields as those were required or it wouldn't upload even though the LLC field was completed. It has been about a week and I haven't heard back from them. Hopefully that worked and PayPal accept it and use EIN for the 1099

I got same message last year...and i did not do anything and the flag disappeared...

I keep receiving emails that mismatch name and tax ID and warning my paypal will be limited after Dec-11.
I am a little worried.
Also eBay email me that I need backup payment gatway if paypal could not receive..

New update on process. Fingers crossed it stays good, but if you fill out your W9 and put your "llc" name in first, last name, and business name, then use only the EIN section with llc name as signature. It has lifted the flag notification, and the first and last name under the business account turned to the business name. Hoepfully, this is not automated and passed human review. The only lingering effect is the warnings on the ebay side by the deadline of request. I imagine those will disappear. I encourage all that get this notification to send it in through the automated system. Hope this helps.

Am I correct to assume that the W-9's that uploaded successfully are LLC partnerships? We are putting a P in that area and then putting the EIN down below, after of course putting the LLC name in the first name, last name, and business name. What address is everyone using? Is it the real LLC address or the stealth address on the account? Please advise so that I don't mess this up! Thank you so much in advance!

Should be the PayPal address on the account. The LLC address is not needed for matching purposes.

Hi! If you are getting EIN for sole member LLC for banking purposes, and using stealth name as LLC name (eg PP stealth name John Smith will be John Smith LLC) - will it work for PP?

I have a stealth account with non-real names etc. i want to provide my sole-propriatership's EIN [as this was never used yet with paypal]. how do I get around the mismatch of names?
