Problem withdrawing - this one is new?

I withdrew some money out of one of my stealth accounts and I just logged in and saw the money was returned which usually means a limitation. When I clicked on details it said "your money was returned to your account due to a paypal technical problem". This happen to anyone before?

Never heard of that before.
If it was me I would try to withdraw again and see what happens. If it happens again I would call paypal.
Out of curiosity what bank account are you withdrawing to?

This one is TD.

I had it happen to me recently (PNC). I can't see anything specific as to what would cause this because nothing was different from what I normally do. For now, it just seems like one of the many Paypal glitches.

Did it go through the next time around?

Too early to say yet. I noticed on Sunday and initiated the withdrawal again then. I'll update you in a few days though.

I'd guess PayPal blacklisted that bank and you're not allowed to use it. Definitely don't try adding it again, or another account # from the same bank - that may limit you.

Why would the blacklist TD bank?

Thats a common error when names don't match. So I'd imagine if it keeps happening they will blacklist whatever bank is behind it.

Update on the situation: it happened again, so I called Paypal about it. The guy said it was most likely due to the bank not recognizing the account, or routing number. For my case, I'm guessing I used the wrong routing number when adding the account (normally I do the 2-3 day trial deposit method, but chose to do the instant verify this time).

That actually makes sense to me.

Did you have your info written down as you used instant verify?

Another US user had problems with a bank account number NOT even theirs.
Incorrect account number turned up on their paypal account.

Using the instant verification should make no difference. If you input the wrong routing number then the account cannot be verified no matter how you tried to verify it. The instant verification would NOT go through because the info you input was incorrect.
Only thing I can think of is that the account that was used for verification was blocked by the bank for some reason (mismatched name issue perhaps?) as it doesnt seem to be an issue on paypal's end.

Yes I had the information written down. I definitely used the correct account number, so the only thing I can think of is using the wrong routing number since PNC has a ton of different ones. It's my fault for not confirming with PNC that I had the correct one.

Wouldn't it still instantly verify if the routing number was incorrect, but still belongs to the bank? For example, since many banks have different routing numbers for different states, using a different state's routing number instead of the correct state's routing number. Or using the bank's wire transfer routing number instead of the normal routing number (I believe this was my error). I suppose it could be a mismatched name issue, but I've used PNC with mismatched names in the past. Of course it could stop working at any time, but still.

I contacted PNC support today to check to see what the correct routing number should be and the lady did indeed give me a different routing number than the one I used.

Re: Problem withdrawing - this one is new?

Just wanted to give one final update for future reference.

After adding the correct routing number I finally was able to receive a deposit in my PNC bank account today. To answer my own question above: yes it is indeed possible to instantly verify an account with the wrong routing number just as long as the routing number still belongs to your bank and that is exactly what happened to me. I either accidentally used the wire transfer routing number, or the wrong state's routing number for PNC. Always make sure to have the correct routing number written down before proceeding.
