Do I give a real SSN or ignore and slow down?
 

Hi,

I guess this has been answered at some point before. Here is a quick take on my situation and I hope there is a quick easy answer.

I have one real account and 5 stealth ones that are active sellers. I was asked by PP for SSN or my account may be limited. I have sold about 100 items this year for about $3500.

I think my options are

1. Blow them off, let them stop me from selling until the New Year when my Tax IRS stuff starts over.

2. Give them a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ SSN. The name is totally bogus.

3. Slow down sales to a trickle to not hit the 200 items sold point.





I went through this a few years ago and seem to remember my customers getting a "not able to complete transaction" notice when they tried to buy. I was not able to sell but then New Years came adn my account worked again.

Thoughts? I would love to get away with a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ SSN. I can manage to not hit the IRS reporting limits every year. Would be nice to run it up to 195 items instead of 125 though.

Once they ask for the SSN, if you don't provide it....they will eventually limit your account(s) that they are asking the SSN for.

Again, once they ask for the SSN, they will LIMIT the account(s) if you don't provide it....that or get an EIN.

That's illegal.....

Theres also the option of getting an EIN and providing them with that. Completes the same objective as giving them the SSN with much less hassle.
There are several threads that discuss how to accomplish this so do your research.

Slow down and create more accounts. You can keep the same accounts as long as you keep them in good standing and avoid reaching the 200/20k limits

i used my old suspended ss and id, after that 200 got limited...pp lifted my account! i just ended up using my real name and address..told supervisor the real story then told them all the new rules should apply to the old suspended account since every single fb from the past has to do w stupid things..like retaliations, ppl couldnt read, as described..

i figured it was going to die anyways must give it a try

After callign ebay w the real story about the suspended account they said as long as pp lifted it everything should be fine..since i was honest and my score is perfect and top rated, i have over $10,000 in sales...still waiting for ebay's decision..


ebay hasnt deleted my auctions yet..weird...

False and False. If you stop selling completely once you get the notice you are fine. If you continue to sell then you run the risk of being limited. Especially after PayPal sends the second notice.

My suggestion is always play it safe. Leave the account especially if it is basically December alone for a month and let it reset in 2015. This is why it is so important to have lots of stealth accounts and lots of backups just incase.

volgeltron suggest exactly what I am doing right now. I don't have quite enough accounts to move all the inventory I want to move this December, so I am selling to the point Paypal asks for SS and then just move onto another account. January is not far away at all.
I am only EIN accounts with very big limits.

You can own an unlimited amount of companies and each company has an EIN .

do you get a quarterly filing on each?

Impossible to use the same EIN on each LLC, Corp, Trust, etc...

Fillings is based on a slew of things.

To say you have to use the same EIN is like saying Exxon, Best Buy, Walmart, Walgreens has to use the same EIN. It is impossible.

but I don't have to have a llc I can just dba a inactive biz ?on the presumption that someday will kick it into gear?

Can't used DBA, those are for individuals and will trace back to your SSN, need to get LLC, CORP etc like it has been mentioned

Not to sound rude, but why do it the cheap and lazy way? Dont you want to make money and own a business?

And no you cant. You already stated this yourself...One EIN as a sole Proprietor :noidea:
