Default Does PP Seller Protection require signatures at $250 or $249.99?

As the title states - does PP seller require signature confirmation at $250.00 or $250.01?

I ask because I'm looking at selling $250 items and Im going to mark-down the price to $249.99 just to avoid paying the signature fee for every parcel I send out.

But, since I'm a little OCD about dealing in round numbers, I would prefer to have it be $250. Everything in my shop sends in a round number and it would bother me if I had an item at $249.99

Sorry for the ridiculousness of the question, but I'm ust curious.

Amount now is $750.

Change was made months ago.

Why do you not want to protect your account for the sake of a few extra bucks for a signature?

I still get a message about using signature confirmation and it's automatically checked off with items at $250

It has a little orange flag and they check off sig confirmation automatically

But I would use it regardless and really haven't bothered to hover over and read the message on the postage where the orange flag is, maybe now they just say it's highly recommended or something

When I am in a better mood and have more time, I will give my reasons of why I dont insure and follow the paypal/ebay $750.00 policies.

Basically, I am independently insured by taking those fees NOT buying them and putting it into a fund.

I'd still use a signature confirmation for anything above $200 myself.

It's more of an enforcing move, more than anything on my end

This is the other side of ecommerce trading, imo.

Sellers need to take actions to protect themselves.

Does paypal offer protection? Yes. But it can be qualified and decisions may not go the sellers' way.

The other side to that then is to seek outside protection for sales.

It's called control and good business.

They did raise it a while back. I will take the other members word about $750. I am with the other member who said basically anything over $150-200 for me I just tack on the $2.30 for USPS Signature confirmation. Its one of those things I would rather not deal with when a buyer gets all ticked off.

That's a very good point - independent insurance rather than relying for seller 'protection'

About the item amount $50 for priority is easy because it is included. Just for sake of hassle each have their own opinions. Usually anything over $150-200 I have signature confirmation. That is on the high end for me out of the normal. To each their own.

I always get signature over 100. I think the whole signature insurance thing is a total joke anymore. I get sig but after a 500 denied item claim with the post office I will never give them another dime for any type of insurance. If I have something 300plus I will go to fedex as they dont break crap as much as the post office.. UPS sucks too, know someone close who said they just chuck stuff.

sig over 250 but it really doesnt matter if u hit a scammer the pp case could go either way. I do it cuz it makes you feel safe but pp and ebay cases anymore are a crapshoot

Hey all I'm new to the stealth game, been selling on an account with my legitimate name for a little while though. I seem to recall that any items over $250 are automatically marked for signature confirmation when I print the shipping label from eBay. Has anyone personally tested the no signature for items over $250 but less than $750 and won the dispute with only the delivery confirmation number? I got burned a while back before I really knew what I was doing, because I shipped something that sold for a little over $300 without signature, but maybe that was before they changed the policy to $750, not sure when that happened.

Yankee. If u think there's no risk with PayPal and ebay I have a bridge to sell you

What happens if 5 buyers open a claim saying not delivered tracking says delivered but they didn't get sum1 stole it let's say or they scamming you. Ok paypal will cover you but don't think paypal and ebay won't flag your account ASAP and you could be limited
If you making a decent amount of profit on the item just pay the extra fee to sign peace of mind

I beg to differ. Sounds like we are not in the same level of selling.

I guess you need to weigh risk vs reward and the type of buyers you are catering too.

I have yet to have a problem where a signed item was not received, but I'm also NOT OK with the delivery guy leaving a $500+ item on someones porch for anybody else to take (since it falls back on me ultimately). I feel a hot/trendy item (phones/new electronics) may entice buyers to claim it was never received to see if they can get away with keeping the item and their money. It's unfortunately that type of society we live in now!

Granted, I ordered a $1800 item from a website (not eb or amazon) before and UPS just left it on my porch I guess that site wasn't worried about what would happen!

Or maybe they realized that 90% of the people are pissed off and will never order again if a signature is required and a 5% return rate because buyers are not available to wait around to sign for a package.

My guess they are like me and apply this very simple concept and make a salary or two more every year NOT buying insurance or having signatures. It is quite simply math.

Ship 10,000 $1000.00 pieces. Save on signature and insurance. $8.00+ per package. Loose one or two packages a year. Lets make it crazy and say it was ten scammed or lost packages.. Make an extra 60K-78K......
Not complicated or risky or rocket science.

This number applies bigger or smaller. Same sliding scale..

Now add it the ROI of the flip of that money and it gets interesting...

On ebay and paypal it is quite simple. If it less than $750.00 you are covered. The raised it to this because of the couple reasons I mentioned above.

By-The-Way, credit card chargbacks is $250.00

Good point about the insurance cost too. $2.50 for sig doesn't seem like much but it adds up, insurance does even faster when the vast majority show up perfectly fine. May have to rethink those both.
