I only use Paypal People

I keep getting questions from users on ebay asking if I'll ship to X or Y country and then they say "I pay through paypal only". Nice of them to make the rules for me, eh? Well we all should know by now that Paypal won't protect any transaction other than the US, UK, and Canada. So does this mean these people are fraudsters trying to get the better of a new user or are they so blinded by the paypal propaganda that they believe no other payment service cuts it?

What do you tell these people?

A) Yes

B) No

C) Look at their feedback then decide

D) Tell them to pay for Fed-Ex or UPS delivery for tracking with Paypal (fees are so high it means they're most likely a scammer or desperate) and then offer the "alternative payment" at a lower cost

E) Give them the Dick Cheney Wal-Mart greeting and block their bid

Any question asking to ship to a x country, ignore. Real bidders don't ask if you'll ship to a certain country.

Hmm, so do you think this is a fraud artist sending the email or ebay "checking up on me"?

georgesmith 07-24-2007 01:13 PM

definitely not eBay lol. 99% of what they do is automated, thats why they mess up so much.

JackNoMore 07-24-2007 01:33 PM

Sounds like a scam artist then. Probably exploiting Paypal. Thanks

btw, private message heading your way. :)

I used to get that all the time. I would say NO NO No and I would then post the question on my listings so I could exploit the fraudster.

If anyone out of the country wants me to sell to them, I tell them to pay Western Union.

I don't have a problem with international buyers per se. A lot of my items attract an international crowd so that parts fine with me. What I do have a problem with is the huge loophole gap that paypal leaves open for fraudsters outside the US, Canada, and UK. Those three regions are actually pretty safe as long as you follow the rules. And according to the few Paypal reps I've spoken with about the subject, many times they will step up to the plate for you regardless if you have a valid tracking number. But I've recently discovered that to get the full tracking they want, you can't really get that from the post office, which means it's prohibitively expensive to the point where almost no one in their right mind would pay for it unless they're uber wealthy.
