PayPal has over $250 of my money?

I just purchased around 10 items on paypal through my bank account and they have reversed the funds and limited my account. I am out over $250. I am only 18 and not very happy.

They said in order for me to get my money I MUST PROVIDE A Social Security Number,

What can I do? If I get a lawyer will I win?

I need to know what to do as I will not give a company such as PayPal my hard earned cash.

Give them your ssn.

You can either give them your ssn (risky since you can only use it for 2 paypal accts and its important enough), wait 180 days (not sure if that's an option) or talk to your bank to reverse the payment as unauthorized transactions (small chance since bank accts aren't like credit cards, but might as well try). And for $250 I am not sure if it's worth hiring a lawyer.

Good luck

Why? Were these purchases from the same buyer? Would like more info, please.
Unless your Dad or a family person is a lawyer forget that idea. Will cost a lot more than
$250.00

Anything under $5000, you can do it yourself in small claims court. PayPay says you can only take them to court in Santa Barbara, but there are ways around that.

im a little confused, wouldnt a reversed payment go back into your bank account (as you stated thats what you paid with) within a few business days???

brandon1984 11-16-2008 01:35 AM

tell your bank you had unautorized charges on your account. i cannot believe paypal can just hold your money like that. i wish i could meet the people at paypal, oh what i would love to do to them with a baseball bat

That's the beauty of paypal, when you buy something with your paypal account all refunds and reversals goes into your paypal acct and not back to cc or bank. That was probably something they thought of to keep your funds longer to earn interest or make money off of you one way or the other.
