strange email from Paypal asking to update profile ?

I received this email from Paypal asking me to update my profile info ?
I log in my Paypal account, but there is no warning nor any notification in my account, everything is normal.
This is a stealth account though, what should I do ? should I just update ramdom info in amdom fields like address, email ?
Does this mean my acount is under the radar and will be toasted soon ?
Anyone has experience on this, please shed some light on this .. much appreciate.

We are contacting you because your PayPal account has potentially invalid or outdated information. Please log in to your account at https://www.paypal.com/us and update the information indicated below. After logging in, click on the Profile tab to update your account.

PayPal periodically checks the validity of members' email addresses, phone numbers and mailing addresses to ensure security and prevent potential issues with inactive accounts.

If PayPal does not have current or accurate information on file for your account, we may be unable to confirm your identity. This may make it difficult for you to recover a forgotten password or to receive money sent to you via money request or mailed checks.

Please make the changes indicated above today, or simply choose to close this account and open a new one. You can even use the same email address to open a new account as long as that email address is valid.

If you wish not to receive email reminders in the future, please edit your settings in the Email Preferences in your Profile.

Thanks,
PayPal

Hi

Do not click on any links in that email, it is a scam to get your information, and not from PayPal at all.

I agree. It sounds like a phishing email to me. If PayPal has a real issue with your account, you can see what the issue is when you log into your PayPal account.

If you already clicked a link in the email and logged in, then they have your password which you should change immediately!

Whenever I get an email from PayPal claiming there is an issue, even if it LOOKS LEGITIMATE, I always log in through my browser, directly, WITHOUT clicking on any links. That way I am certain that I am actually at the REAL PayPal website and not some scam site.

If you get another email like that you can see what address they link in it points you to (either hover the mouse over the link or right click and select copy link location then paste it into notepad).
If it doesnt start with ebay.com/paypal.com its obviously a phishing scam.

As a rule I never click on e-mail links. Concerned about your pp or eb account? Go to your user account and LOGIN safely. Never via links - not worth the risk.

Re: strange email from Paypal asking to update profile ?

Before everyone jumps to the "scam email" conclusion, did the email start with your actual registered name, or was it just something along the lines of generic "Deal Paypal User"?

If it's an actual name, then it might actually have came from Paypal. You'll usually get an email like that if they attempted to call you with a false number on file. This will not always get you limited, if your account's activity has been unsuspicious.
