Bank Withdrawal still says 'Pending' -- Should I be worried?
 

Newer Stealth account. With all accounts I've had, usually 20-24 hours after withdrawaling it updates to 'Completed' and then the following day I get the funds.

I did a withdrawal yesterday at about 6PM EST, so almost 25-26 hours ago, and it still says 'Pending'.

This has me worried, as it is a new stealth account. I've already had two withdrawals of the same amount go through fine, and left funds in the account as well.

Should I be worried?

One thing I have found is there is no absolute consistency with the timing of withdrawals.

Even with my older working accounts, I get occasional delays.... and near panic attacks.

What bank is involved?

Hmm, I usually get it updated to 'Completed' in 24ish hours, always scared if it is Pending after that duration.

In this case I'm using Suntrust!

Have you had any cases or disputes on ebay/paypal?

I sell directly on my own website, and have had no disputes or anything like that.

Like I said, this IS a newer account, but, I've already had two successful withdrawals but this Pending one is worrying me.

On a new PayPal account PayPal do further checks before releasing the money. It will take about 72 hours to reach your bank account. Nothing to worry about normal procedures on a newbie PayPal

I hope you are right, I did not receive my withdrawal today which I normally do if I initiate it on Thursday.

When do you think it will change from 'Pending' to Completed?

Should I be looking to receive my withdrawal Monday? Or do you think Tuesday, or even later?

Is this a new account? I would wait till Tuesday/Wednesday at the very latest.

If the funds have still not gone through contact Paypal and your bank. Don't panic yet you only initiated the transfer 2 days ago

Yep, it is a new account, so I know this is somewhat standard. However, usually when it happens on new accounts its the first withdrawal. This is the third, and the other two went perfectly (completed after 24 hours, in account next day), and that's what has me worried!

Yep, good ole waiting game. What's new with PayPal :P

Withdrawals take 24-72 hours now. There's nothing to worry about.

I get this, but the fear is the whole still 'Pending' withdrawal rather than saying Completed.

Also as an update, we are now over 48 hours and it is still Pending.

@ Reduxretro hate to be the bearer of bad news but unfortunately it might say pending later on.

This happened to one of my Paypal accounts funds were received within 24 hours at first then it start taking 72 hours and after that i noticed my funds were in a pending balance and they would be available 21 days after i received payment

When that happens it's for receiving your funds in your balance, right? I've actually already had the funds in my balance and chosen to withdraw them to my bank account.

Yes but when you start receiving more funds and withdrawing them they may start holding the funds for 21 days. It's mainly if it's a new PayPal account

Wouldn't I get a notice if that was the case? It wouldn't just hold my withdraw as 'Pending' for 21 days would it?

I got no notice on mine and they didn't even bother to send an email. The funds that I did withdraw took up to 2 hours instead of 72 hours once it said pending. They can do whatever they want because they are ***** and its PayPal!

I never seen a withdrawal stay pending for 21 days on a U.S. Account, could be a UK thing so don't worry about that

But on new accounts the first 5-6 withdrawals anyone could be held from 1-4 days, so don't panic, this is standard and is stated at the time of each withdrawal

If you have had no chargebacks or returns or any major issues, don't panic

If u withdrew Thursday u will get it Monday or Tuesday

Yeah, I never heard of a 21 pending on withdrawals either. Maybe on funds in general but not a cleared funds withdrawal.

Anyway man, this information really puts my mind at ease, I appreciate it. I'll still post back here in about 2-3 hours once the 72 hour mark as hit and then again tomorrow (until the issue is resolved) just so everyone knows for the future. Obviously it's a case by case situation but so we at least have some information on here to go off of.

I didn't say a withdrawal is pending for 21 days I said the funds are held for up to 21 days. Please read carefully

When I first started my current paypal account 72 hours was how long it took to change from pending to Completed - standard for new accounts.
But after a while this changed to the standard 2 hours.
And that's the way its been for ages ---until yesterday.

I did a transfer from paypal to my bank account , it said it would take up to 2 hours , it continues to say completed but almost 36 hours after its still not there.
The annoying thing is that a transfer I did 12 hours before that arrived within the usual 2 hour time.

I've just done a transfer today and its still saying it will take 2 hours.

What's going on ? What's changed?

Good news guys. Literally at the 72 hour mark the withdraw went from 'Pending' to 'Completed.

I anticipate I'll have the funds tomorrow morning, but will confirm here either way. Seems like maybe just PayPal wanted to do some extra checking. :)

Curiouser and curiouser.
The late payment that I transferred from paypal 36 hours ago is still not in my bank account. The payment I transferred earlier this evening has already arrived.
Never had this happen before.

In the early days of this paypal account when transfers took 72 hours it always said Pending until the 3rd day and as soon as it changed to Completed it was in the account in 2 hours.
But this late payment has said Completed for the full 36 hours so I'm confused as to what has happened to it

Just an update guys: I received my withdrawal to my bank account this morning, so appears everything went fine. Also initiated another transfer this morning, and will let you know if it updates to 'Completed' later!

Great. Anyway, withdrawals are now marked as pending for up to 72 hours. So that's okay.

My UK transfer that was marked as Completed finally arrived today. Over 48 hours after I started it and 24 hours after 2 later transfers had already arrived.

Here in the UK at least payments from established paypal accounts say Completed immediately with transfers to mainstream banks being instantaneous and others arriving within 2 hours but as per Paypal T&C's they reserve the right to delay transfers for whatever reason they like.

New Paypal account transfers to banks always show as Pending for around 72 hours but once the account has been running a while this restriction stops.
The 21 day hold on actually having the funds available to withdraw usually only happens if the attached Ebay account is also new. If the ebay account is established the 21 day hold does not happen although I suspect Paypal may randomly do so just because they can.
That's in the UK.

Not really. This thing occasionally happens to all of my accounts no matter how old they are.

It seems that withdrawals are marked as pending for 72 hours when the amount is higher than any amount that was previously withdrawn from the account. I am not sure though, still watching.

My statement that the 72 hours thing is for new accounts is an accurate generalisation.
It is what happens to new accounts.

But all accounts can be subject to additional checks at random.
I had a transfer of £52 delayed the other day but in previous days I've had payments of over £60 and over £90 go through with no problem.

I suggest the checks are as stated by paypal - random and not dependent on any value - although any drastic changes in what you receive or transfer can also be a red alert for paypal
