Unauthorized charged that paypal sides with buyer
 

I had a buyer that open an unauthorized charge 2 weeks ago. I provided proof of shipment and delivery to the confirmed address. Yet I see today that paypal sided with the buyer and refunded their money. I don't get it. I've had a few of these in the past year pop up but I was sided with because I proved it was shipped and delivered to the confirmed address. How is this allowed to happen? I feel like there is no seller protection if this is how they are going to side from now on.

Has nothing to do with it. I've had these opened before and I was told by paypal as long as you deliver to the confirmed address you are protected.

It was $10 plus shipping.

Being told by paypal is never a given to be a true fact.

If you had that in writing, then maybe.

A verbal comment should not be taken as gospel.

If your buyer spun a good enough story, paypal do not need to care about you.

Have you called them up to discuss this?

Yes I spoke to a rep. So if this is the case, anyone can buy a bunch of items on eBay then call up and say they didn't authorize it even though it was delivered to the confirmed address. That just opens up the doors for a lot of problems.

Dang, some people are really greedy.....They filed a chargeback for $10.

Yeah it's not the money for me it's the principle. Funny thing is, I looked at all their recent feedback and they bought a bunch of similar items from different people within the last few weeks. Items that would all go together.

I just don't want to see this door opened from paypal that you can say "unauthorized charge", have the item delivered and get your money back. I would think paypal as the payment processor would have liability not the person who delivered to a confirmed address. Something that is required by paypal to do.

I've never understood this either. I have both won and lost these cases. How can there be an unauthorized purchase when the merchandise is going to the confirmed address??? I mean, if they received it, they should return it if it is unwanted.

This is one reason why I like to stick with items that sell for under $50.

I could just see it now if I were to sell larger items. Yes I RECEIVED the $1,200 laptop but it was UNAUTHORIZED... Yeah, ok...

the fact they did not allow the both of you to keep the measly $10 is pretty baffling when you obviously shipped the item with tracking...

I would be doing a bit more than posting on a forum if this happened to me.

I prefer paypal to not walk over me for starters

I don't understand it either. Because if you open a case for an item you didn't receive but shows delivered the seller is protected. Yet you have an unauthorized charge and the product is delivered and you get to keep it and the money. I think the problem is kids are using their parents accounts and buying items then parents don't want to actually pay for it.

As far as I am concerned, the parents have to be responsible for their kids. If they give their kids access to their account passwords, it should be the PARENTS problem.

Can you imagine this on Ameritrade? I want my money back, because it was unauthorized - my son was playing with the computer and bought those stocks that just lost 50% of their value, not ME...

I've actually seen this happen on etsy with kids purchasing items then the adults filing charge backs for unauthorized purchase. You definitely have to be responsible for your kids. At least return the damn item to get your money back.

All different people. I've had 3 of these "unauthorized charges" opened from paypal in the past year. All sided with me because I provided tracking with delivery confirmation to confirmed address.

This person this time has less than 20 feedbacks.

I've blocked the previous 3 people after they filed the paypal complaints.

Same thing happened to me. Three buyers. All over $400.

Ring paypal, quote their policy to them.

You have abided by seller protection rules, paypal should take the hit as per their terms and conditions.

I think paypal just chance it sometimes, side with the buyer and hope the seller doesnt kick up a fuss. It will save then millions in the long term.

if it's unauthorized than paypal covers it 100% as long as it's "Seller protection eligible"

on the payment email it will say if it's seller protection or not.

from my understanding things now-a-days are 100% seller protection. if they can't provide seller protection, than they won't process the payment.
