Can i exchange checks from PayPal with different name in US?
 

Hi,
I created a US PayPal account to sell handmade on eBay and my account had been limited more than 180 days.I got email withdraw from PayPal,i did not have US bank account to withdraw my money but i can request a check to my friend's address in US.Really trouble when name of mine and my friend were different.
If my friend got check,can he exchange it?He also did not know can he do that or not.
Would you please help me?

Cashing a check in the US that isn't in your name is illegal and it may be considered identity theft or identity fraud which can cause your friend to go to jail if he is caught.

So i can not do anything right?
Would you please give me advise to cash out my fund?My friend had bank account but he was linked it to his PayPal account.I did not live in US so have many thing i did not know.

You have 2 options:
1. Transfer the funds to another PayPal....this option may cause a link between PayPals and can cause issues in the future.

2. Add another Bank Account that can take Mis-Match Name deposits.

Which banks can do that?
I will ask my friend for help because i read many threat but really did not know clear.

Not too familiar with the topic either, but if transfering to a bank that allows mis match names is acceptable, wouldnt that same bank be fine with accepting a cheque in a diffrent name, with your signature on the back, and if it was deposited through atm or mobile app(avoiding humAn).

That's right.My account had been limited more than 180 days and i got email withdraw from PayPal.I did not have bank account so i would want to cash out my fund via check but now i have to find out another ways like MM78 told me that i can not exchange check with different name.I also really fell not comfort when have to asking help from my friend because i did not know how he fell.Have anyone can help me cash out my fund?
If anyone can do that,i will share my money in my account.

Maybe you did not know how hard when a person like me live in another country outside U.S.

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong on this one, but you can add a US bank account to the limited account, correct? (If Im reading this correctly, this is after the 180d limitation.)

If so, xengadt's friend here in the US could create a new bank account with one of banks listed above, and link it to the account, transfer the funds to the bank, and go from there.

You cannot cash a check that isnt in your name. I have even had issues SIGNING A CHRCK OVER right there at the bank and the other party being with me. Banks just do it anymore.

In regard to the original question...have your friend make a new bank account and attach it to your Paypal. Then you can withdraw the funds.

I called my friend and asked for help.He told me that in US creat many banks did not easy like in Vietnam.He will consider about that.
I also understand and I really did not want my friend fell uncomfortable.

Depends on the bank, my bank knows me well enough that they have accepted checks not in my name. I was required to have the other person endorse it using a special endorsement and call the branch...not a problem. This was not BofA or any major bank but a bank in the Tri-State area in the US.

If OP's friend is good with the local branch manager they may allow it. OP's friend could wire him the money after it clears.

OP, Have your friend call the bank and ask but make sure to request that you speak with the branch manager.

Sign the cheque over to your friend, give to your friend to cash..

You can actually sign it over to yourself and deposit it into your bank machine.

It is a legitimate check from paypal. The fictitious name your signing is made up, who is going to come after you? Nobody Who are you hurting? Nobody.
