Paypal no longer accept online bank accounts?
 

I was trying to add my PNC virtual account and PP rep told me that they are no longer accepting online bank accs. Not sure if this is 100% true because my online TDbank still works fine. So PNC Virtual and Capitalone is done for...

All banks today offer online services so I don't see them blacklisting every single bank out there.
PNC however is a very specific bank and from I am reading its been abused so it might have been blacklisted...

I don't know how PayPal would be able to tell the difference between, let's say an online Bank of America account vs. one opened in a branch.

I'm not sure if PNC has something specific in their account numbers here they could tell if one was opened online. I know there are some banks that are EXCLUSIVELY online, and certainly PayPal could ban those.

I wouldn't give up just because of this thread, if you have a PNC bank account, you could still try it. And if they DO ban them, is it really that big of a deal? Bank accounts in the US are easy to get. I'll bet people in the UK WISH they had this problem!

Before I hung up, I had to clarify it with the rep...she said that it would've been fine if I had opened the account in person at a local branch. They just don't accept those virtual accounts from PNC anymore. I just open another online account with a different bank and it worked perfectly.

Is there a difference in the routing or account numbers between an account opened at a branch of PNC or a virtual account?

I'm not sure Jeff since these are my first 3 virtual accounts with PNC. The first few numbers for the acc are 569378 and routing # 03110. I'm sure someone should be able to compare these with theirs.

I agree with Jeff and Slokor. I had just added a VBA last night by confirming instantly with a user ID and password. I had added PNC awhile back, but I actually went into the branch to open the accounts. I do not see how they could do this.

I think you just got a dummy for a rep, or he is lying. PNC is a big bank that PayPal would not be wise in blacklisting.

PNC is still working i just added one waiting for the small deposits to confirm it.
Maybe they are blocking only in some specific accounts, also a few days ago i added another bank that people are saying that it is blacklisted from paypal but i added it in an old account and it worked just fine.
I am guessing it's happening only with new accounts?

I haven't try the method that Bjammin have mentioned. I'm afraid that they might see my real bank info if I were to confirm it by logging in with a username and password. This is for my stealth account.

They wont see it. They use a third party company to do that verification. It would be illegal for them to look at anything you have not given them permission to look at.

Well so far nothing has really changed and if anything people are reporting paypal and ebay are no longer have as much access to each other's info.
