Paypal Instant bank verification

Does anyone use this? I have many accounts with the same bank login, I used it in the past with no problems, but will this link any accounts you think? Anyone tried this?

aspkin 12-24-2008 01:06 AM

Yes, several times already, no issues.

It works fine, and there are several threads on this topic already. Please search to learn more.

Personally I would NEVER give Paypal my Banking Log in name AND my Banking account password.
To me that is just crazy.

aspkin 12-24-2008 02:26 AM

When you know and understand a system completely, you know where the boundaries are and what you can and cannot do. Regardless it is safe, it is not handled by PayPal but a 3rd party, and it's not a concern.

I hope this thread doesn't turn into another extended bank verify thread...

I second Aspkins comment that it works like a charm, no problem with linking. However like HWGA giving anybody my banking login makes me feel uneasy so I always change my user name and password on WAMU as soon as it has been verfied by Paypal.

With BofA accounts, when I try to use the same account number it no longer works, even with instant verification. I had been having good luck with this method in the past up until around a month ago. I had used the same account number 3-4 times without problem

Here We Go Again 12-27-2008 11:09 AM

1 Bank account = 1 Paypal account.

If you re-use account number then your accounts are linked.

If you used the same bank account number 3-4 times for 3-4 eBay or Paypal accounts then ALL 3-4 accounts are linked.
When 1 goes down they ALL will go down within a week or so.

Just use manual verification. I don't like the idea of paypal having my bank login data. I always use the manual verification. Takes 2 days generally before you can see the deposits. If you are trying to be safe do random deposit method.

As long as the account holder for the bank account is the same account holder for paypal. I done it with my name no problems. But one time I couldnt wait the 2-3 day deposit so I use one of my WaMu login and 5 days later paypal limited asking for more identification.

As for the 3rd Party. I think that 3rd Party is sending information to PayPal as who is the account holder. Since the 3rd Party not on the PayPal agreement and you are letting the 3rd Party to send info to PayPal.

Well that's what I think.

Exeneva 01-05-2009 12:47 AM

Can anyone confirm that?

Would this make ING a viable option again since there are no deposits done?

Here We Go Again 01-05-2009 01:38 AM

If you use ING to base your Paypal account on then please do NOT make a post on these forums when your ING account gets closed by the bank.
There have been 50-75 posts made on this forum in recent weeks on why to NOT use ING as a Paypal bank account.

Exeneva 01-05-2009 02:24 PM

I'm not saying I have or will.

Let's go back to the issue why ING doesn't work: the names on the deposits don't match the names on the account.

What I'm thinking: Since the automatic verification doesn't send any deposits, could it be used to confirm an ING bank account?

Why?: I use Paypal Plugin to get my funds out, not bank withdrawal.

Now, answer this if you can.

Here We Go Again 01-05-2009 03:11 PM

Think about it....
When you give PP your banking log in information they log into your account.
They can SEE the name on the account, the address and ALL your REAL personal information.

Why in the world would you want to give them your real information to confirm a Paypal account that has a different name, address, etc?

Exeneva 01-05-2009 04:33 PM

Have you ever actually tried it? I have, without matching information on my Etrade bank account and it has always worked.

The service is done by a third party, not Paypal.

Nevermind this argument, I'm going to fire up ING again and try this.

I know this topic is ridiculously old, but I wanted to add that I recently did this, using instant verification with an ING checking account with mis-matched names, and it worked out fine.

doughboykilla 02-19-2011 01:14 AM

how many have u did so far?

Omgoozle 02-19-2011 01:36 AM

You're allowed one Electric Orange Checking, and I did that one with Instant Verification and it worked fine.

I just opened 5 Orange Savings accounts and plan on trying them tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

Ps - Check my other posts and go answer my questions on my "Lumped Questions together" thread!

siccspitz 02-19-2011 08:14 AM

I talked to paypal worker and they said they cant see your name or any personal information.

they just check the last 4 digits to match the deposits.

for example ... XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-0934

thats all they can see but who knows thats maybe what they are told to say but they can actually see more then what they say :P

Either way its better being safe than sorry so dont do instant bank verification
Just do the deposits

doughboykilla 02-19-2011 09:52 PM

what im affred of is if u gave paypal ur bank log in info and they instant verfiy then later on u do anothe instant verfiy then then use the same info then they can link the 2 paypals togather cause ur useing the same login info. All pp has to do is store the login in one time and match it to all others who use the instant verfiy to see if its the same and then link u.

im kinda werry about using it but it would be a hella lot better if i could do it useing instant verfiy.

lakeman 02-19-2011 09:56 PM

It has been said that Instant verify is completely safe and that pp cannot link you by it.. Although some people would rather not give pp their bank info, I have used it for several accounts and it works great.

doughboykilla 02-19-2011 09:57 PM

well since u used it i think i will give it a try
